Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty sold over 5 million copies in 2023

2023 was a banner year for Cyberpunk 2077, according to developer CD Projekt RED. An announcement from the company trumpeted a new sales milestone for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the game's sole paid expansion.

In a post uploaded to the game's official Twitter account, CD Projekt RED said that "Over 5 million agents have infiltrated Dogtown," implying that at least 5 million players had purchased the Phantom Liberty DLC by December 31, 2023. The company had sold 4.3 million copies by late November 2023. According to CD Projekt RED, the "attach rate" of Phantom Liberty (the percentage of owners of the base game that went on to pick up th expansion) sat at about 20%. With over 25 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 in player hands, this means that at least 1 in 5 Cyberpunk 2077 owners picked up Phantom Liberty as well.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty are available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Phantom Liberty (along with the changes added to the base game via the 2.0 update) made RPG Site's Game of the Year listing.
