HoYoVerse launches Honkai Star Rail 2.0 update, hails 100 million downloads and Apple Vision Pro compatibility
HoYoVerse has delivered the latest major content expansion for Honkai: Star Rail as of January 6, 2024. The Honkai Star Rail version 2.0 update is formally titled "If One Dreams at Midnight," and is now live and accessible to all players. The update takes players to Penacony, the "Planet of Festivities."
HoYoVerse also announced that Honkai Star Rail has been downloaded over 100 million times over iOS, Android, PC, and PS5. The game launched in late April 2023, putting the milestone at just three months shy of its 1st-year anniversary.
As part of the 2.0 update, Honkai Star Rail was made compatible with Apple's Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Launched on February 2, 2024, the Vision Pro uses eye and face-tracking and an internal, partially translucent display to project a 3D user interface over the wearer's field of vision. According to an FAQ page, Honkai Star Rail can now be played with the headset.
Alongside the launch of version 2.0, HoYoVerse also released a new character trailer for Black Swan, the new featured character on the in-game Warp banner.
Black Swan is a Memokeeper of the Garden of Recollection, a faction aligned with the Aeon Fuli, The Rememberance. In her role as a fortune-teller, she dives into the memories of others in search of unique memories and information.
In combat, she's a 5-Star Wind-element Nihility character. Her combat style revolves around stacking the "Arcana" debuff on enemies she hits with her techniques, or those who take damage-over-time effects from the party. Her focus on damage-over-time makes her an ideal fit for damage-over-time-centered teams (like those involving characters like Kafka or Sampo).
The second new character is Misha, a 4-Star Ice-element Destruction character. Though he works as a bellboy at the Reverie Hotel, Misha aspires to become an intergalactic adventurer. In combat, his element and Ultimate technique are enhanced by the party's Skill Point consumption, dealing more damage and improving its chance to freeze foes.
Honkai Star Rail is available on PS5, PC, and mobile platforms.
