TGS 2017: Zanki Zero is a new survival RPG from the team behind DanganRonpa

Today during the happenings of this year's Tokyo Game Show in Japan, Spike Chunsoft released the first trailer for Zanki Zero, a new "survival RPG" (aka dungeon crawler) by many of the same staff behind DanganRonpa. They include Danganronpa series producer Yoshinori Terasawa and Danganronpa 2 director Takayuki Sugawara.

In the new trailer, you can certainly feel those DanganRonpa vibes emanating from the environments. It's easy to forget DanganRonpa is a first-person game when you're outside of the courtroom, so this lends itself well to comparison.

The story is set in a world where there are only eight humans remaining in existence. The world has collapsed under the weight of the oceans, and now the last of mankind must work towards finding out what and who exactly caused this to happen.

Zanki Zero will be released for both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita. Unfortunately, a release date for this title has yet to be shared.
