DSi sells 3 million units in Japan

Nintendo's latest revision to their hugely successful handheld DS hardware continues to tear up Japanese sales charts with the aid of Dragon Quest IX, now breaking the 3 million unit barrier in Japan alone according to data from Famitsu.

Famitsu suggests what we at RPGSite would say is a certainty - that Nintendo owe a large portion of that 3 million to the release of Dragon Quest IX and the special Red DSi that launched with the hit RPG.

Overall DS sales in Japan including the DS, DS Lite and DSi are now over 27 million!
