Pokemon Legends Arceus: How to Evolve Stantler to Wyrdeer

Stantler has long been known as a Pokemon that received the short end of the stick, an interesting enough Generation 2 Pokemon that feel left to rot in obscurity due to a lack of interesting gimmicks or evolutions. Thankfully, with Pokemon Legends Arceus, developer Gamefreak have saw fit to right the wrongs of the past, giving Stantler a starring role in the form of brand new evolution Wyrdeer.

There's a twist, however, as Stantler can only evolve in a new and unique way that is built around your interacting with the new "combat style" system. This new evolution method is so unique that there's only one other that shares this method - evolving Qwilfish to Overqwil, another gen-2 Pokemon getting a new evolution. Unlike Overqwil, Wyrdeer isn't linked to completing a Pokemon Legends Arceus request, but it is a cool Pokemon that you might want to have on your battling team, separate from the one you ride around. Thankfully, we've got all you need to explain how to evolve Stantler to Wyrdeer

Where to catch Stantler

Before anything else, we'll need to pinpoint where, exactly, players can catch the base evolution for Stantler. Even though you might already have it, it's worth doing this for those who haven't yet had an opportunity to nab one. They appear in four of the five zones in the game (all bit the Crimson Mirelands), and can be found in places the Highlands' Wayward Wood and the Fieldlands' Deertrack Heights.

However, due to proximity to Qwilfish - the other Pokemon that relies on using combat styles for evolution - we've elected to showcase where you can catch a Stantler in the Cobalt Coastlands. You'll find the deer Pokemon at the below location, just next to the Windbreak Stand, to the West.

A Stantler, found in it's natural habitat in the Cobalt Coastlands.

This happens to be a stone's throw from where you can catch Hisuian Growlithe, if you want to nab another rare Pokemon at the same time.

How to Evolve Stantler into Wyrdeer

This is where things get tricky, as you can only evolve a Stantler once it has learned, and then mastered, the move Psyshield Bash. So you won't be able to evolve your Stantler until it has reached Level 31, at the earliest.

You can Master Moves earlier at the Jubilife Village training ground, but it costs a Mastery Seed, a rare item you might want to save for regular staple Pokemon in your team.

Once it has mastered the move, evolving it is (relatively) simple - have Stantler the move at least 20 times in Agile Style, and you'll be told that your Stantler is ready to evolve. Congrats on your new Wyrdeer!

Once you've caught and evolved this pair, we've got more pages to help fill out your Pokedex. That includes guides on Wisp Locations (which leads to catching Spiritomb), getting every Eevee evolution, the new method of obtaining the trade evolutions, how to get Kleavor using Black Augurite, where to catch Cherrim, and evolution levels & methods for all Pokemon in the game. Good luck!
