Elden Ring Remembrance: All Remembrances, Boss Weapon Unlocks, and how to clone them
Remembrances are a powerful new type of item in Elden Ring, differing slightly from the special boss souls that's drop in previous games of this type developed by FromSoftware. In Elden Ring, each of the most significant bosses in the game drops remembrance items. this page is all about them.
At a base level, all remembrances in Elden Ring can function like boss souls - meaning you can redeem each remembrance in the game's menus to get a bounty of runes, the currency you use to level up your attributes and power up your character. But the twist is that each Remembrance has a secondary use, which is that remembrances can be traded in order to receive powerful weapons and gear.
Adding complexity to this is the fact that each remembrance is a consumable item, meaning you have to choose if you're going to trade it for a weapon, or use it to get runes. If you choose the former, there's then another choice - which weapon, spell, or piece of gear to receive, as each remembrance can bequeath more than one. You can, however, clone remembrances in a limited capacity - so then you have to choose which to copy and reuse.
Basically, the Remembrance system has deceptive complexity and depth, and there's some hard choices to make. Luckily, we're here to help. On this page, we explain the Remembrances system in detail, including:
- What remembrances do
- How to get more than one copy of each remembrance even without going into new game plus
- Full remembrance list & what they can unlock
Please keep in mind that the later areas of this page which list the Remembrances contain boss spoilers just through the virtue of item names. If you’re sensitive to that, don’t read past the first two headings.
How should you use Remembrance items in Elden Ring?
In Elden Ring, each Remembrance is a major, significant item. It’s also rare - you basically only get one of these per each play-through of Elden Ring’s story, though you are able to clone each once as well, as we explain later.
Along with the Great Runes, a Remembrance is your reward for defeating the most powerful bosses - though there's more Remembrances than Runes, as several powerful bosses who don't have Great Runes drop Remembrances nevertheless. The point is, these items are a big deal, and so is what you choose to do with them.
You basically have two options for each Remembrance:
- You can trade the Remembrance in for a “great bounty of runes”, which gives you a lot of currency to level up with
- You can take the Remembrance to Finger Reader Eina in the Two Fingers room of Roundtable Hold and give it to her - in return, she will give you a rare item associated with the boss you defeated to get that memory, such as a boss weapon
It’s vitally important that you think hard about this. Broadly speaking, our take is that we think Remembrance items are too valuable to be traded for Runes alone. You can grind Runes in many ways; it’s just EXP to level up. It ultimately can be had anywhere, with enough time and effort.
On the flip side, the exclusive items gained from remembrances are truly one-of-a-kind. Many of them can completely change your play style, such is their power.
It’s worth noting that, separate from Remembrances, Eina sells the armor of each boss in her store once you defeat them; no Remembrance item required for that.
With that said, there’s no point in getting Remembrance Weapons, Spells, Incantations or Items that don’t fit your play-style or character class & build. This page lists all of the Remembrance unlocks below - so you can check that out below if you don’t mind boss spoilers. Before we get into that, however, let’s talk about cloning Remembrances.
How to get more copies of Remembrance items
There’s two ways to get more of each Remembrance consumable in Elden Ring. The first is simple; once you beat the game you’ll get the option to Begin Journey 2, aka New Game Plus. This resets the world state and lets you carry your gear, character, and other progression to a new game. This therefore revives all the bosses, and you can battle them all again.
There is a simpler way within a single save game, however: cloning Remembrances. You can do this legally, though only a limited number of times. You can also do it even for a Remembrance you’ve already used that is no longer in your possession.
To clone a Remembrance, you need to find a Walking Mausoleum. These are the huge rocky structures that stomp around large areas of The Lands Between.
To access each Walking Masuoleum, you’ll need to attack corruptions that are attached ot it in order to bring it crashing to the ground; at that point, you can open its doors. Some have these white corruptions on their feet, making them easy to hit. In other cases, you might need to find a way to climb up to remove ones higher up. It often might be smart to clean out nearby enemies before starting this task, too.
You can find Walking Mausoleums in the following locations:
- Weeping Penninsula (south of Limgrave): West, near the Church of Pilgrimage
- Liurnia of the Lakes: Uld Palace Ruins, north of the Church of Vows on the raised landmass that runs along the eastern edge of the main lake. Also, find another north-east of Raya Lucaria Academy - you'll need to jump up onto this one using Torrent and a nearby Spiritspring Jump.
- Mountaintops of the Giants: Right outside the entrance to the mini-dungeon of Castle Sol.
- Deeproot Depths: In the wide open area, by the ruins of another Eternal City. Climb the roots to get onto it
- Consecrated Snowfield: North-west of the town of Ordina. This one is more aggressive; be warned.
Inside the Walking Mausoleum, you’ll be able to place one of the Boss Remembrance items at the altar. This duplicates it. You can only do this act once per Mausoleum, and there’s a limited number of these in the game - so think carefully about which you want to clone!
