Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to clear & unlock the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower
Each of the map-revealing towers is a little different in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and some of them are more puzzling than others. One of the towers with a slightly devilish barrier between you and a more properly filled-in map is the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower, the tower in the Lanayru region of Hyrule that just happens to cover Zora's Domain, a major story destination.
This page explains how to clear away the trouble that's preventing you from accessing the tower - allowing you to fill in your map and greatly enhance your journey into Hyrule. If you're on a mission to fill in the map completely, we've got similar pages to help out with the puzzles around the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower and Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower - so check those out, too.
How to unlock the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower by clearing the gunk
When you first approach the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower, you'll find that it's covered in a nasty, gooey sludge-like material. This material is actually blighting the entire Zora's Domain area in general - like an oil spill - and you'll need to clear away this Gunk in order to access the Skyview tower.
Thankfully, the solution is remarkably simple - and also right under your nose.
The sludge is a lot like mud - so to clear it away, you'll need water. The cheapest and easiest option for this is to use a Splash Fruit - an item you can throw or fuse to an arrowhead in order to create an elemental splash of water. This can be used to clear away the sludge and gunk, which isn't just useful here, but also around this entire area as you explore.
If you don't have a Splash Fruit to hand, the even better news is that there's a single Splash Fruit tree just a handful of steps from the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower entrance! Chances are you'll already have some of these, though, as these trees are quite common alongside their Fire and Lightning element bedfellows.
Alternatively, you can use any other water-element ability to help clear the sludge in the same way. You could use the Fire Hydrant style Zonai device if you have one in your inventory, for instance - or you could use a weapon fused with a water-elemental item such as Blue Chuchu Jelly. Anything water will clear the sludge away, and in turn give you access to the tower.
