The Best RPGs on Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass across its different tiers is home to quite a few RPGs now through Xbox Game Studios releases, games from third party developers, indies, and more. While the selection of games does change over time, we've put together a list of recommended RPGs on Xbox Game Pass covering console, PC, standard, and Ultimate tiers.

While a lot of the games are available for platform-specific subscribers, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes them all, and we have mentioned what tier a specific game is available if applicable.

What is the difference between every Xbox Game Pass subscription tier?

Before getting into the games, Microsoft has made Game Pass a bit confusing with older tiers renamed and some branding changes. Xbox's Games with Gold has been renamed to Xbox Game Pass Core as an example. Today's article does not cover that tier as the selection is very limited. This article is about the following Game Pass tiers:

  • Xbox Game Pass Standard - Hundreds of games, multiplayer, and deals. This also includes online multiplayer on console.
  • PC Game Pass - Hundreds of games, new games on day one, EA Play, and deals.
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - Hundreds of games across PC/console/cloud, EA play, new games day one, perks, and deals. This also includes online multiplayer on console.
  • Xbox Game Pass for Console - This subscription isn't available for new members, but existing members still have access to it. It is basically Xbox Game Pass Standard with a few more games, but without online multiplayer.

Which Xbox Game Pass subscription is worth it?

If you only play on PC, PC Game Pass is the way to go. It has all the important aspects of Game Pass Ultimate included and costs less. On the console side, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers the best value with new games day one, EA Play, perks, and deals. The EA Play games on PC require setting up the EA App with an EA account required to play these games.

What is Xbox Play Anywhere?

Xbox Play Anywhere support for a game means it is a single purchase with save data shared between PC and console. While most games here will be Xbox Play Anywhere, there are some games that are included in Game Pass for both PC and Console, but without save syncing. I've made a note of these for each game.

Hopefully this brief explanation helped you understand the different tiers. Now let's get to the games.
