Mass Effect: Andromeda Guide - How to get Your Own Space Hamster
While in Mass Effect: Andromeda you're able to get a sort-of pet ally in the form of the Remnant VI to help you and your squad on the battlefield, there's another pet that you can get. Because you can never have too many pets in space.
With this guide, we're going to show you how you can get your own space hamster. This space hamster won't attack any enemies like your Remnant VI, but it'll have its own little spot in your quarters on the Tempest for you to go to and pet it whenever you'd like.

How to get the Space Hamster Pet
In order to get your pet space hamster, you're going to need to unlock the "The Visitor" sidequest. At some point while walking around the ship, you'll catch wind of the fact that someone -- or something -- is eating the Tempest's food stores. Once you do, go to the area where the Nomad is stationed in Deck 3 and scan the crumbs on the floor near the door to Liam's usual spot.
Once you're done inspecting the crumbs, build a trap at the ship's research center in order to catch the little fiend. Go to the Development section and switch to the Special Items tab, which is where you'll be able to craft the Humane Trap.
Then, go back to where you found the crumbs and place the trap at the creature's lair. All that's left is to wait for the trap to spring, so travel to a planet or do anything you need to do for when you come back, you'll get a quest update telling you to check the trap. When you go back to Deck 3, you'll see your future-to-be space hamster caught in the trap.
You'll have a short scene which you'll choose whether you want it to be your pet or to release it off-world. Should you keep it as your pet, your new tiny friend will be in the Pathfinder's Quarters.
