Persona 4 Golden: Yosuke (Magician) social link choices & unlock guide

Throughout the course of Persona 4 Golden, Yosuke Hanamura is very much your best buddy. He’s the first friend you really make, your first social link activated, and is a constant staple throughout your story.

Yosuke carries the arcana of the Magician, and the better you know him, the more skills he’ll have at his disposal in battle. You’ll also be able to fuse and forge more powerful Magician Persona the higher your rank is with Yosuke.

Yosuke Hanamura S-Link Guide - Magician

Below we’ve listed every social link rank and conversation choice for the Yosuke S-Link in Persona 4 Golden. We’ve presented it in as spoiler-free a manner as we can.

The way your S-Link rank up works in P4G is that there’s a hidden experience point stat for each social link in the game. As you hang out with characters, you’ll gain points that add to that value. In some cases, conversation choices present you with an option to earn bonus points - and that’s what this guide is about.

Any conversation choices not listed in this guide have no impact on your rank - so you can choose whatever you want for those. The numbers next to each answer listed depict how many points are added to that invisible s-link experience stat for Yosuke; we’ve listed the optimum choice for every point-altering conversation choice.

The numbers shown are the increases when you hang out with Yosuke when you have a Persona of his Arcana - Magician - in your current stock. The values will be slightly less if you don't have a Magician Persona with you at the time.

  • Yosuke Hanamura is generally available to hang out on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. He’s not available on rainy days.
  • You can find Yosuke at school, in the Classroom Building 2F level, on weekdays. On Sundays and Holidays, you can meet him at Junes.

Rank 1:

  • As the story of Persona 4 Golden begins, you will meet Yosuke and get to know him. The social link begins on 4/16.

After finishing Rank 6, you can speak to a lady in the Junes Lobby to get a new costume for Yosuke and, if he's unlocked, Teddie.
