Metaphor ReFantazio - 100% Walkthrough
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a fascinating RPG that combines some of the best mechanics from Atlus' previous games. One particular thing that you'll notice right away is that it contains an in-game calendar progression system like Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. After the first few hours, you'll start having complete agency over how you spend your time in it.
Just like the Persona games, it has a system similiar to the Social Link / Confidant mechanic in them. You'll gather Followers on your journey to become king and you'll have to be mindful of how you spend your in-game days if you want to 100% the game. Followers in Metaphor: ReFantazio also expand and upgrade your selection of Archetypes, which is the game's job system.
While achieving 100% Follower Ranks on a first playthrough in Metaphor: ReFantazio isn't relatively as strict as some of the Persona titles with their 100% S-Link / Confidant requirements, it's still easily missable due to Metaphor: ReFantazio's differences to the Persona games. Certain rank-up events are only available when you're on the Gauntlet Runner traveling to somewhere, for instance.
This guide is for hardcore completionists and aims to make sure you achieve 100% Follower Ranks, 100% all quests completed, 100% all Royal Virtues maxed, 100% all books read, and 100% all food cooked. It will remain as spoiler-free as possible, but be aware that the screenshots for the Gold Beetle locations may include some very minor spoilers; you can avoid them by just always picking up all loot in a dungeon.

Metaphor ReFantazio: 100% Follower Rank Guide - Things to Know Before You Start
- This guide will be minimalistic, and it will prioritize achieving 100% Follower Ranks, completing all quests, winning all debates, and finding all Golden Beetles. It will not tell you what equipment to buy, what party members & Archetype job classes to use, what your strategy should be, and what dungeon mechanics to expect. We want you to enjoy the game as much as possible and let you play how you want to play.
- Save often in different slots.
- This guide was done with Normal difficulty in mind, but it is also doable on the Hard difficulty too.
- Although Metaphor: ReFantazio is similiar to Persona, it's fundamentally a different game so be sure to read all the Notes as you come across them in this walkthrough.
- There is no "best dialogue choice" that raises a hidden affection meter in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Some dialogue choices in Follower events yield bonus MAG, instead and the game will inform you when a Follower rank-up event is available. You can fast-travel to them immediately from the Follower menu, as well.
- Fully explore every single Dungeon; pick up all the items (they're shown as blue dots on your mini-map) and treasure chests.
- Informants in Taverns sell intel about side quests and Dungeons; be sure to buy all intel any time they're available because they provide valuable information on what you need to do or what you should expect.
- You have a lot of spare time to cook in your Gauntlet Runner's Kitchen when you unlock Speed Cooking, so don't panic if you aren't able to match the guide 1:1 on when to cook a certain food item.
- There are some minor random elements, such as fishing, which I'll go into detail when you run into it in the playthrough.

Note: This will be quite challenging to do, but it's achievable. Be very picky about which battles you choose to engage in, since your capacity to be efficient with MP is extremely limited this early on & your MP replenishment options are very sparse. For instance, the Meteoric Fist Synthesis Skill on Brawler is a very efficient skill to wipe out mobs quickly because it consumes HP, not MP, and you have HP recovery options that only consume a little bit of MP. Having the protagonist set to Mage can also help due to the Magic Recovery skill. Note: The gates in the Mausoleum area will unlock later in the game.

Note 2: Unlike Persona's Social Link dialogue options, Metaphor: ReFantazio does not have a hidden Affection meter in which a certain dialogue option gives more bond points, nor does it have any system that is like Persona's matching Arcana mechanic for that series' S-Links. Instead, some dialogue option selections provide bonus MAG and the amount you receive can vary per selection and sometimes there are multiple responses in the same pool that reward the same amount of MAG. We will only list responses that reward the most amount of bonus MAG. Keep in mind that there are also multiple response selections that do not give MAG regardless of which option you choose, so we will skip these entirely and only list responses that give the most amount of MAG.

Note 1: During nighttime on the Gauntlet Runner, the item on the Deck can either be blue or red; if it's blue, you'll get a Lumibee and if it's red, you'll get a Dreameater Moth. These are cooking ingredients used for different dishes that require at least 1 of them. You will eventually be able to buy them, but not until very late into the game.

Note 2: Sometimes during nighttime on the Gauntlet Runner, multiple characters you can spend time with will provide the same increase in the same Royal Virtue social stat. You can freely decide which character you want to speak to, as long as they give you a +4 increase on the Royal Virtue stat.
