Monster Hunter Wilds Optional Quests Guide – All the Optional Quests Included, How To Unlock Quests, and More

Monster Hunter Wilds has multiple dozens of Optional Quests in addition to its main story missions and side missions. These quests are different compared to the main story ones for a few reasons. In addition to differences, there are also some that are hidden until you fulfill certain conditions like slaying some smaller monsters or even talking to an NPC. This guide lists every single Monster Hunter Wilds Optional Quest that I've found so far. It will be updated as more content is added to the game through free title updates.

Note that this guide has spoilers for a lot of the monsters you encounter in the main story, high rank, endgame, and more. If you'd rather finish the game without knowing what's coming next, I recommend playing through the campaign until the credits at least. If not, this is your final spoiler warning for all the optional quests and monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.

What are Optional Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Optional Quests are specific quests that can be taken on as many times as you want. The objectives in these quests are usually to hunt or slay a specific monster or set of monsters. There will be preset conditions for these hunts like a reduced number of players, required HR, time limits, failure conditions, and more. These are not the same as Side Missions in Monster Hunter Wilds that have their own unlocks and rewards tied to different NPCs. Optional Quests are a great way to farm specific monsters for parts if you need a drop for some gear to forge.

There are 73 Optional Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds as far as I can tell (at HR 111) in the base release on day one. I've also included the HR requirements and noted if you get the quest from someone other than Alma (Avis Unit) who is responsible for most of them. The full list of Monster Hunter Wilds Optional Quests is below in ascending order of difficulty:

How to unlock Monster Hunter Wilds Optional Quests

The easiest way to unlock Optional Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds is talking to NPCs whenever you spot a symbol above their head, attacking small monsters whenever you get to a new area (make sure to redo this in High Rank in case you're missing any), and just playing the game normally. You keep unlocking these through the endgame until you get to the HR 31 or higher range.
