Monster Hunter Wilds Main Story Guide – All the Missions and Assignment Quests in the Campaign

Monster Hunter Wilds is finally here across consoles and PC platforms. While prior games had decent to good story content, the overall experience has always felt lacking. With Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has taken two steps forward and one major step back, but the end result is easily the most focused story content we have seen in the series so far. This guide will cover every single Monster Hunter Wilds main story mission, this game's key quests (assignments), and also give you a step-by-step guide on what awaits you in Capcom's newest.

This goes without saying, but consider this your spoiler warning for Monster Hunter Wilds' main story, endgame monster reveals, and all the campaign quests included. 

Monster Hunter Wilds structures its main story chapters in multistage missions. These vary in size and they usually result in a special quest that is considered an assignment quest. For the purposes of this guide, I've listed all the quests below in two parts: missions and assignments. The missions are exactly how the main story progresses while the assignments are the quests you can join through SOS or via multiplayer.

Chapter 1-1

Desert Trotters:

  • Follow the girl

Note that all the quests below support up to four players. You can join these via SOS to play with others, or can set up an auto SOS flare so people can join you when your quest begins during the main story.

  • Frozen Lord on the Precipice: Slay the Jin Dahaad - HR 30 or higher
  • Roaring Rey Dau: Slay the Rey Dau - HR 30 or higher
  • Tide Overtaking Timber: Slay the Uth Duna - HR 30 or higher
  • Scorching the Earth Once More: Slay the Nu Udra - HR 30 or higher
  • Shrouded in Black: Slay all target monsters (Gore Magala and Blangonga) - HR 30 or higher
  • Awaking From a Dream: Slay the Arkveld - HR 40 or higher

While you can't repeat assignments (key quests), you can join the hunts via SOS flare when you search using the quest counter at Alma.
