Monster Hunter Wilds Goldenfish Guide – How To Catch the Golden Fish and Complete the Seeking the Goldenfish Side Mission
If you've just gotten Monster Hunter Wilds, you likely will run into Kanya, the NPC fishing at a base camp. She's the one who gives you some side missions, and the most notable early game one is to catch a Goldenfish. This guide covers how you can capture the Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds, what we used to catch it, and more. There will be no story spoilers in this guide, but there will be some location spoilers for maps beyond the first one so keep that in mind.
Monster Hunter Wilds Seeking the Goldenfish side mission guide
The Seeking the Goldenfish side mission in Monster Hunter Wilds is given to you by Kanya in the Scarlet Forest base camp. She's fishing on a rock near the water at the back of the camp. Once you get this mission when you talk to her, the way to complete this mission is to fish and capture the Goldenfish. Once you have captured the Goldenfish using the rest of this guide, you can report to Kanya and collect your rewards.
Where is the Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds
While the Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds can spawn in multiple locations, I found it in the location below in the Windward Plains map. This is in Area 14: Groundwater Vein. Once you fast travel here, walk ahead for a bit. You get a prompt to dive in and swim when you walk into the water. This lets you reach the area below in the map. Once here, walk towards the right slowly and you will likely see the Goldenfish. I found it here 4 out of 5 times. In fact I just loaded up the map right now to do it and found it again twice in a row after catching it. If you don't see it, rest and select Plenty and Morning for the map from your tent.
How to fish and capture the Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds
To capture the Goldenfish, you can equip the Golden Bughead bait by using the d-pad and then fish as normal. You do this by pressing the left trigger to cast your lure and aim near the Goldenfish. The Goldenfish looks golden compared to the other fish as you can see in the photo.
