Suikoden 1 Recruitment Guide: All 108 Recruitable Characters & How to Get Them

One of the defining aspects of the Suikoden series is the 108 Stars of Destiny - which is the offiical name for the 108 characters that you can recruit to help in your adventure. The problem is, not all of these characters join you naturally as you progress the story of each Suikoden adventure - you'll have to seek many out, which is where this Suikoden 1 recruitable characters guide will be invaluable.

As well as impacting your abilities in combat, the number of and identities of the characters you recruit can have an impact on the story. In order to get the best endings in Suikoden, you will need to find each one. Thankfully, this guide will point you to each one of them so that you can bring them to your side. As a note, not every character can be used in combat, with some remaining back at your base to provide bonuses, run shops, and more.

Suikoden Recruitment guide: How & Where to get all 108 Characters

Spoilers Ahead - consider yourself warned. We can't tell you where to recruit all of the characters in Suikoden without mentioning bits and pieces of the story, though we'll keep it as vague as we can...

As mentioned in the introduction to this page, it's quite an undertaking to recruit all 108 characters in Suikoden. In general, it's well worth following our handy minimalist Suikoden Walkthrough, which will help you to go to the right places at the right times to make sure you don't miss anything major without any major spoilers - including character recruitment. If you just want the characters, however, you can follow this page instead.

Generally speaking, there's a handful of different ways you can recruit characters in Suikoden. First of all, you can nab some simply by progressing the story. These characters, naturally, cannot be missed. Second, optional characters can be recruited often by talking to them or by completing various side content or meeting certain conditions. The details oin what you'll need to do for each are made clear below.

Some characters are missable and there is no checklist built-in to the game - so be sure to folllow this guide closely. Here's all 108 recruitable characters in the game:

Get sugar from the item shop, give the sugar to person at the inn who will give you a yardstick, the yardstick to the person south of Sarah for some salt, the salt to the person at the item shop for soy sauce, head to the armor show and trade the person the soy sauce for soap, and finally return to Sarah and give her the soap.
