Suikoden II Walkthrough: Where to go, all recruits, achievements, missables, True Ending, step-by-step guide

The new remaster of Suikoden II is here, and one key component is collecting all 108 Star of Destiny recruits and picking the right choices to get the True Ending. If you are looking to 100% the game and get all achievements, we're here to help.

This walkthrough is a bullet point guide for players who don't want to keep referring back to paragraphs within a lengthy walkthrough, but do want to make sure that they don't miss anything that will prevent them from collecting all treasure chests, and recruiting all characters. This guide will remain as spoiler-free as possible, but there will be some cases I will mention a character leaving the party soon for item management purposes.

Suikoden II is a bit more involved than Suikoden I, but it is still a relatively straightforward game. Most dungeon areas are linear, and a checklist of item pick-ups will suffice as you make your way through. Some areas of the game are a little bit trickier that we will point out.

Suikoden II also has more achievements tied to minigames compared to the first title. This guide will help here, pointing out the optimal times to do these events so you can get every achievement.

What this walkthrough will do:

  • Offer a minimalist walkthrough so you know what you need to do at any point in the game.
  • Point out recruits and missables so you can easily complete the game 100%.
  • The guide attempts to be spoiler-free, but there will be moments where I will say "this character will leave your party soon" for item management reasons.

What the walkthrough will not do:

  • Offer in-depth strategies for bosses or party build.
  • In-depth Dungeon Walkthroughs. Basic directions will be provided to help navigate to all items, but other than that, most locations in Suikoden are straightforward.

Opening

Note: There is an achievement for beating Suikoden II on Hard Mode. So, make sure you have chosen that setting if interested
Note 2: Throughout Suikoden II, there is a time-limited quest involving Clive. There is an achievement tied to this. For most players, I would suggest making sure the "Event Timer" is stopped from the settings menu. This way, you can take your time, and the quest is no longer time-limited.
  • After naming your character (canon name is Riou), you wake up in an army camp. The events here can vary slightly depending on what you do, but ultimately, head north for a scene, you'll end up meeting Luca Blight, and Rowd will sic soldiers on you.
  • If you pick "Look at that current ... we'll never make it!" four times, you will fight an extra battle. It's worth fighting a handful of battles for some quick level ups.
    • If you fight 108 battles, you get the opening credits sequence in color. Otherwise, the sequence will be in gray-scale. You don't have to get the color sequence at all, it's just an easter egg for those who want to grind out 108 battles at this point.
  • After some scenes (pick whichever dialogue you'd like), you'll end up a prisoner at Mercenary Fortress.
Note 3: If I don't specifically mention which dialogue choice to pick during any given scene, then it does not matter what you pick, and the scene will proceed in the same fashion. Suikoden II *does* have some consequential dialogue options, but many are just for flavor.

Mercenary Fortress

  • Here you will have to do some chores for Pohl. The first set will have you pushing boxes and picking up a Rope on the floor.
  • For the next set of chores, talk to Barbara in the lower left for two pairs of boots.
  • Talk to the blacksmith to the north for 3 Flints.
    • (You can get extra Boots and Flint with certain options but it's really mostly a waste of inventory space. I would not bother.)
  • Head upstairs and talk to the item shop. You'll need to get Flour. You'll team up with Gengen and Tuta and head to the city of Ryube.

World Map

  • Don't bother fighting too many random battles, just head to Ryube to the NE.

Ryube

  • Grab the Flour from the Item Shop. Return to Mercenary Fortress.

Mercenary Fortress

  • Give Pohl the Flour.
  • After the scenes, you will need to clean up oil spills.
    • Two in the basement, one on 1F, one on 2F, one in Flik's room. Return to Pohl when finished.
  • More scenes will take place at night, Jowy will try to break you out. Follow the events, pick whichever choices, and eventually Jowy will break you out of your cell. Head to 2F and leave through the SW. You'll climb down the rope and leave.
  • Head back to Ryube.

Ryube

  • You'll meet traveling street performers and a scene will take place. When Eilie begins to throw knives, never move.
  • Eilie, Bolgan, and Rina join your party. Remember to set your formation.
  • You can sharpen some weapons at the blacksmith. This is effectively your first battle party.
  • You can save at the Inn.
  • Head north to North Sparrow Pass.

North Sparrow Pass

  • After the scenes, the dungeon itself is linear.
  • First West for for Fire Wall scroll
    • There is a pool of water near this that will replenish your HP and MP. Use this if you want to gain some quick levels with this battle team.
    • Scrolls are new to Suikoden II. They basically contain spell charges that any character can use, provided the scroll is 'equipped' in an accessory slot. While this does have its uses, inventory space is limited, so you probably won't want to rely on scrolls often. Eventually you will gain the capability to create scrolls on your own.
  • Take the next East fork to an Escape Talisman
  • Take the next middle fork for a Chest Plate.
  • You'll eventually run into your first Boss: Mist Shade - Use fire spells, Rina's Angry Blow, and the Fire Wall Scroll you picked up.
  • After the boss, take the east fork to Wind Feather Ornament.

World Map

  • Head to Kyaro Village nearby.

Kyaro Village

  • Eilie, Rina, and Bolgan will leave the party here. They'll be back, eventually.
  • Save at the inn.
  • Head to the north part of town and check the shop. You may be able to buy Winged Boots in the Rare Finds section. Reload if they aren't there, if you want them. They're accessories and they're rare, so don't fret too much if you can't get them to show up.
Note - Rare Items in shops: Most shops in Suikoden II have a "Rare Finds" section. There's is a bit of an RNG component to these items. Basically, when you open a shop menu, there is a *chance* for certain "Rare" items to show up in this slot. Every shop's Rare Find selection is unique. After you check a Rare Finds section, you need to wait about 30 minutes for the section to update, giving you another chance to 'roll the RNG dice' to see if the Rare Finds show up again.

You can exploit this by saving your game BEFORE you check Rare Finds, and if the item you want is not there, reload. This guide will point out certain notable items you might find at various Rare Finds sections throughout the game. Always remember to Save first, before checking, or alternatively, remember to check back later.
  • In Kyaro, head left a screen to Riou's house. Before entering the house, head upwards past the right side of the building to the backyard. Investigate the tree three times and Mukumuku will join. He's a squirrel, and yes, he is a Star of Destiny.
    • Like with the original Suikoden, I'll start counting the Stars of Destiny once we have our own base to do so.
  • Enter Riou's house and check the desk in the lower left room for ??? Book (Old Book Vol. 1).
    • Like in Suikoden 1, Old Books can eventually be turned into your base. While this guide will point out all these books, there's no achievement for collecting them all.
  • Exit through the back door and see the scene with Nanami, Riou's sister. She'll join the party.
  • After, as you are leacing check the vases in the center. You get to pick one to take with you, which is basically meant to be sold for Potch. The Medium sized Vase is actually the most valuable.
  • Afterward, leave the house. During the scene, you may fight Rowd depending on your choices, but ultimately it's just part of a long cutscene.
  • Watch the events. Eventually, Viktor and Flik will rescue you.
  • When given the choice, make sure to choose to save Nanami.
  • After all the events, leave the village when you can.

World Map

  • Head all the way back through the North Sparrow Pass to the Mercenary Fortress.

Mercenary Fortress

  • Flik and Viktor will leave the party.
  • You can talk to Leona to rearrange your party, you can even add Gengen to your formation
  • You can sharpen weapons to level 3 at the blacksmith.
  • You can store items at Barbara.
    • Note: You'll be entering a portion of the game where you won't be able to access your storage for quite a while, but you'll eventually gain access again.
  • You can save/rest at Pohl.
  • Head to Toto village far NW of the fort. There is an apprasal shop here, so bring along ??? items,if you want.

Toto Village

  • Appraise items at the appraisal shop (marked with a magnifying glass icon)
  • Enter the Inn. Talk to Zamza at the top. He'll join as long as Nanami is with you.
    • Again, I'll start numbering the Stars of Destiny later, don't worry.
Random Reminder: Are you on Hard Mode? Did you turn off the Event Timer? If you are achievement hunting, make sure to do this!

Ryube Village

  • Talk to the guy, Rikimaru, lying on the ground. Help him out and pay his 3000 Potch bill and he'll join.
  • Talk to Millie in the white hat in the NE section of town. Choose to help her out and you'll be brought to Ryube Forest for a mini-dungeon sidequest.

Ryube Forest

  • Head west at the first fork, put the baby bird back in its nest
  • Head west at the second fork to grab Leather Cape and Gauntlets.
    • The NE path leads to a house you can't do anything at yet, but keep it in mind for later. This is Tsai's cottage.
  • Head back to the first fork and head east. Eventually you'll battle Bonaparte (min-boss, but not a pushover). After you defeat him, Millie will join permanently!
  • Head back to where the baby bird was. A new NPC, Kinnison, should be here. Tell him you saved the bird, and that you are looking for companions, and he'll join alongside his dog Shiro.
    • If Kinnison isn't here, try exiting the forest and re-entering.
  • Head back to Toto Village

The Highland Invasion

Toto Village

  • Now that you've recruited some characters, you'll see a scene here. Pick any options during the scenes. Head to Pilika's house for more scenes. Pilika will give you 70 Potch to buy a birthday present for her father.
  • Leave Toto to the west.

World Map - Muse Area

  • Head to Coronet in the SW. Here you can strengthen weapons to rank 5 and buy slightly better armor.
  • Head to Muse north of Coronet when ready.
  • Head to the Item shop in Muse. The most efficient thing to do is select "No way." when given the option. Jowy will sell his signet ring, you'll get the Wooden Amulet, and 1500 Potch.
  • Upgrade armors at the equipment shop here. Attach runes at the rune shop
  • Return to Toto Village.
Note: Like in Suikoden 1, make sure to visit every shop you run into, whether it's an Item Shop, Equipment Shop, or Rune Shop. Eventually your home base shop will include *most* of the items from shops you've visited before, so it's best to make sure you stop by each one, even if you don't buy anything.

Toto Village

  • A scene will take place as you enter. A familiar face, Apple, will tag along, alongside Pilika.
  • Leave and re-enter Toto. Talk to Hanna and choose "We'll fight together." He'll join your group. Return to the Mercenary Fortress.

Mercenary Fortress

  • A scene will take place automatically. After, make your way to the command room for another scene. You'll gain 2000 potch. Head to Ryube.

Ryube Forest

  • Head to that house/cottage I mentioned earlier. Take the left fork, then the right fork. After the scene, Tsai will join your group. Head back to the fort. On the way, you'll see a scene with Luca Blight. The choice here does not matter.

Mercenary Fortress

  • Head up for a scene. Save, then head up to the command room and say that you want to fight. You'll need to defeat Flik in a duel.

Duel with Flik

  • Like in Suikoden 1, duels are games of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Attack > Defend. Defend > Special. Special > Attack.
  • However, this duel is not really a real duel. It'll end as soon as you do some damage to Flik. Just try again if you need to.

Mercenary Fortress

  • Leave the room for yet another scene. You'll get to name your army. I'll choose "Dunan"
    • Note: This is the last time you'll have access to storage for a while.
  • Head to the front of the fortress for a scene. This leads to the first War Battle.

War Battle - Defending the Mercenary Fortress

  • This is a tutorial battle. Simply follow the prompts.

War Battle - The Second Defense of the Mercenary Fortress

  • This is the second tutorial battle. You have to lose this one.

Mercenary Fortress

  • You have a couple semi-important choices coming up soon. Pay attention!
  • Afterwards, you'll be in the fortress. Choose "I'll go with you', else you'll make this section of the game harder than it needs to be.
  • Make your way to the command room, fighting a few battles along the way.
  • During this scene in the command room, QUICKLY choose option 1 "Save Her".
    • If you don't pick the option in time, Jowy will simply do it himself. Don't be a jerk and be quick to help him! (To be clear this has no material effect on the game. Just help him because it's the right thing to do.)
  • After the events, you'll be teamed up randomly with some of recruits you've gathered so far. You'll have to use this team for a while, like it or not.
  • You need to make your way to Muse, stopping past Toto.

Toto

  • Follow Pilika for scenes. You'll reacquaint with Leknaat and see scenes from Riou's, Nanami's, and Jowy's childhood. This is a relatively long event, but at the end, Jowy will get the Black Sword Rune, and Riou will get the Bright Shield Rune. Any runes they had equipped will be placed in the inventory.
  • Head to Muse.

Muse

  • After the scene with the guard, leave and head to the White Deer Inn to the East.
  • Especially because you could not choose your current team, you may want to make sure everyone's gear is updated, weapon sharpened, and leveled up.

White Deer Inn

  • Go inside the Inn for a scene.
  • In the morning, talk to the Peddler at the table for some shopping.
  • Leave the Inn for a scene. Choose to help Alex out.
  • Head right a bit and up a few screens to a door for another scene. Enter the ruins

Sindar Ruins

  • This is a slightly more involved dungeon area, so I will give step-by-step instruction to clear the dungeon while getting all pick-ups.
  • Examine the pedestal near the door to open it.
  • Take the west fork for a Mega Medicine and Stone of Magic. Continue north to the next screen.
  • Take the east then south fork for Angry Blow. Continue over the bridge, then north to grab Gauntlets. Go South, west, then north to next area.
  • When you reach the six statues, push the top-right statue onto the button to open the door. Grab Shoulder Pads and the Round Plate. Retrace your steps across the bridge and put the plate into the hole.
  • At the four-way fork, head west then north to Triangle Plate. Continue west to Fire Lizard Orb.
  • Back at the four-way-fork, head north to another four-way work. Head east down the long path and place the Triangle Plate in its slot for an event.
  • Back at the four-way forks, continue heading north for Chain Mail.
  • Go South a bit into the dried up riverbed, then west & south to the next area.
  • Go South to a fork, then west. Pick up the Square Plate. Go back to the fork, then south, pick up Water Orb.
  • Head back to the first four-way-fork (up and right to exit the riverbed, then south) head east. Place the square plate right of the door, and head inside. Grab Old Book Vol. 2 and Magic Drain Orb.
  • Head back to the four-way-fork, then north to the second four-way-fork. Head west. Open the door and head inside.
  • After some scenes, you'll fight Boss - Double Head. Use Fire magic if possible. Jowy's rune is good too. Riou's rune can heal.
  • After the scenes, make your way back to the entrance, either on foot or using an Escape Talisman
  • When you exit the Ruins, there will be a small scene. When you re-enter the Inn, there will be another scene. When you have control, grab the Healing Herb left near the ruins entrance and return to Nanami.
  • After more scenes, you can now enter Muse with your new Entry Permit.

Muse

  • There's a lot to do in Muse, which is the de-facto capital of the City-States of Jowston.
  • Try to get a Fury Orb from the Rare Finds section of the Rune Shop in Muse. This isn't needed, but it's a useful orb to have, and this is the earliest you can get it.
  • Try to enter and there will be a series of scenes. Choose whichever options you'd like. You'll end up in the city after once again being saved by Viktor and Flik.
  • Head to the Tavern (on the right side of Muse) and talk to Leona.

Clive and Elza's Sidequest Story

  • [Clive's Story] In muse, go NE of the Rune shop for a scene with Elza
  • Go further N to see a scene with Clive
  • Head to the entrance of the city for another scene. You'll get Sound Set #1.
  • Clive and Elza's story requires you to play through the game quickly to reach certain points of the games under a certain amount of time. While you do not actually get anything in game for doing this, nor is the main storyline affected by these events, there is an achievement for seeing them all. Remember to turn off the Event Timer in the menu, if you haven't already.

Muse

  • Head to the city hall in the north center of town for a scene. After speaking with mayor Anabelle, head in the right room to speak with Jess. Choose "We're in".
  • Examine the upper right bookshelf for ??? Book (Old Book Vol. 4).
    • Don't worry, you didn't miss Old Book Vol. 3. That's found later in South Window.
  • Leave the city hall and head south. You should see Tuta (from Mercenary HQ, remember?) far to the south. Speak with him for a scene, and he'll join.
  • Return inside and talk to Dr. Huan for Recipe #3 (this is missable!)
  • Return to the tavern and talk to Leona for a scene.
  • Did you remember to get Recipe #3 from Dr. Huan? Be sure to pick it up, it is missable!
Recipe Note: While there is an achievement related to completing all the cook-offs later in the game, you do not necessarily have to get all Recipes. But why miss something if you don't have to? This guide will point out where to pick them up.

Recruiting Anita

  • We can recruit Anita sitting at the table in the tavern if we do a few chores for her. You may have to leave and re-enter Muse to flag the game to move on to her next request.
  • She'll may ask for you refill her wine glass. Speak to Leona to do this.
  • She may ask for Antitoxin. Give her some. You can buy it at the item shop in Muse.
  • She'll talk about a female swordsman being rare. Reply that 'I've never seen one so beautiful' to make her happy.
  • Eventually she'll ask about joining up. You can either ask her to join, or ask for a date, and Anita will join up with you.
Note: Attaching the Magic Drain Rune that you got in the Sindar Ruins to Riou is a good option. He can maintain 1 MP for his "Great Blessing" Rune ability, giving you a good source of healing.
Be sure to upgrade the equipment of your party and sharpen weapons at Coronet. Make sure your rune slots are filled too. You can buy runes from the Rune Shop in Muse.
Generally, this guide won't offer much in terms of in-depth strategies. Generally speaking make sure to include physical damage dealers, healers (with Water Runes), and damage mages in your party.

Mercenary Fortress / Toto Village

  • Return to Mercenary Fortress and you'll see a scene with Templeton.
  • Head to Toto village and speak to Templeton on the left-hand side. He'll join. You'll also get the Suiko Map.
  • Head to the Muse-Highland Checkpoint, north of Muse.
Note: By the way, if you were wondering if the Muse-Matilda Early glitch is in this version of the game, it is not! No sequence breaking here. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry about it. A glitch in the PS1 version allowed you to access the Matilda area early, but that hasn't been possible since the PSP version of Suikoden 2.

Muse-Highland Checkpoint

  • Talk to the guard to open the gate, then talk to him again to let you pass to the right.
  • In the forest, head all the way to the right to a new screen, and pick up Circlet from the chest.
  • Head back left a screen, then take the immediate NW fork to a Belt of Strength.
  • Now, take the NE path and head north to the next area. Continue heading north to the next area. Continue until you see a scene.
  • In the Highland camp, head to the NE for a scene. Afterwards, you'll be caught and about to run off. When you can, pick up the Fire Sealing Orb from the chest, before heading the fancy tent to the west. You'll see a scene with Princess Jillia. The choices here don't matter.
  • After, leave to the SW. You'll have a forced fight with Jowy and Riou. After more scenes, you'll have a forced fight with the rest of your team. After, choose "First, we have to get out of here."
  • Make your way back to Muse.

Muse

  • We mostly have scenes to see here.
  • Head to Anabelle's office in City Hall for a quick scene.
  • Return to Leona's tavern for a scene with Viktor and Flik.
  • You may want to save here.
  • Return to Anabelle's office for a long scene. The choices here don't matter.
  • Head to the Muse city entrance to see a scene where Nanami is waiting for Jowy. To see the full scene, make sure to keep selecting the dialogue options to wait with her.
  • Note: Now's a good time to unequip Jowy since he'll be leaving the party soon.
  • A week later, head the NW-most corner of town, follow the path, and speak with Viktor.
  • Head further in for more scenes. Head back to Leona's when you can.
  • The next morning, save, then speak with Victor when you are ready, and you'll begin your third War Battle.
    • You'll be recruiting a Star of Destiny during the War Battle, so be sure to save.

War Battle - The Defense of Muse City

  • Turn 1: Have two City-States army units each move one space left. Leave everyone else where they are.
  • Turn 2: Flik should attack a mercenary named Gilbert. There is a chance Gilbert will defect and join your side immediately after this. If this does not happen, it's best to reset and try again. Once Gilbert has defected, move all your other units up one space each.
  • Turn 3: Miklotov will join as a reinforcement. Have each of your units move up one more space each again.
  • Turn 4: Keep moving your units up closer to the enemies.
  • Turn 5: Riou's group should be close enough to Gilbert's to heal him with his Bright Shield Rune.
  • After this, the course of battle may change a bit depending on luck. If Flik's or Miklotov's group falls, it's fine. If Gilbert's group falls, it's fine, as long as he says "Fall back."
  • Eventually, units will retreat, and the battle will end.

Muse

  • Talk to Nanami when you have control. The next morning, head downstairs.
  • Head back to City hall for a scene with Anabelle.
  • Head back to Leona's for another scene. Talk to Nanami when you can. Say that you are 'worried about Jowy'
  • Head to the City Hall to see a scene with Jowy and Kage.
  • At night, head back to Anabelle's Office, then head to her private room on the left. You'll see a long series of scenes. The choices you make here are just for flavor and don't affect the course of the game. Eventually, you'll be in the city at night with just Riou and Nanami during an attack from Highland. Head to the Tavern to pick up Pilika. Then, leave Muse.
  • After the scene, head to Coronet nearby.

Coronet

  • Head to the Tavern, and talk to the man in the back for Recipe #5.
  • Head as far south and then west as you can for a scene at the docks.
  • Head back north to the Inn. You'll reunite with Eilie, Rina, and Bolgan.
  • Save here, just in case you lose too much money due to RNG coming up here.
  • Head back down to the docks, then head east a screen. You'll meet more familiar faces from Suikoden 1. Play the dice game and beat Tai Ho.
  • Head back to the tavern to pick up Eilie, Bolgan, and Rina. They'll rejoin your party.
  • Head back to Tai Ho. You'll travel to Kuskus.

Kuskus

  • Head west two screens, enter the northern house, and examine the bookcase to the west for Recipe #9.
  • You can sharpen weapons to 6 here.
  • Save at the Inn. Then head to the Item Shop, and check the Rare Finds. If Recipe #11 isn't there, reload to try again to buy it. You can always get this later.

South Window

  • South Window is south of Kuskus
  • You can find Old Book Vol. 3 in the Rare Finds section of the Item Shop. You might want to save first before checking.
  • You'll notice Clive is here, but you can't do anything with him at the moment.
  • After the scene with Bear Viktor, don't head to the Inn just yet. On the east side of town, you'll meet a priest named Gantetsu near a rock. Go east of him and examine the row of plants. You should find Friendship Orb. This is a useful weapon attachment, as it strengthens as you get more recruits. Nanami is a good choice.
  • Also, stop by the Rune Shop and remove Rina's Fire Orb and give it to Eilie. This will be useful for an upcoming boss.
  • Now stop by the Inn. Viktor and Flik join your party, for good this time.
  • Head north of Gantetsu to the town hall. Freed Y will join your party after the scenes. You'll get a CG cutscene, also.
  • Head back to the Inn. Flik will leave.
  • We need to head to North Window, which is far NW of South Window, near the ocean. However, it's worthwhile to spend some time fighting for some money and EXP, and strengthening your equipment at the shop.

North Window

  • During the scene choose to run away, else you'll fight an unwinnable battle.
  • Head to Cave of the Wind, south of North Window.

Cave of the Wind

  • Follow the path until you meet a multi-way fork. Head NW through the wall for Sun Badge. Then head west from the fork.
  • Continue until you reach the second fork. Head west, then north, for Fish Badge. Then take the right path from the second fork.
  • At third fork, go left for Fire Wall, then right, then north to the next screen.
  • You'll get to a sequence of rock pushing puzzles. Simply push the rocks out of the way, or into the path of the wind. On the last set, you'll have to carefully push rocks up and left to leave are few gaps in the air stream as possible. At the end, you can grab 3000 Potch, Medicine, and Blue Gate Orb. The NPC here simply sends you back, if you want.
  • At the next fork, go south, which will wrap around to Stone of Protection.
  • Go as far SW as possible for Half Helmet.
  • Take the NW path to continue to a scene. Kahn will temporarily join your party. Continue North along the linear path until you meet the Celestial Sword.
  • Boss: Celestial Sword. Riou's Healing power is necessary here. Otherwise, use your strongest attacks. Viktor should do a lot of damage with regular hits if you sharpened his weapon in Suikoden 1.
  • Heal up at South Window, then head to North Window.

North Window

  • Head all the way north to the castle. This is technically a one-time-only area.
  • Enter the room to the fight for Fire Orb.
  • Keep heading west until you see a big room with lots of stairs. Head down the southern stairs for Stone of Magic Defense.
  • Keep heading west until you are in a room with five statues.
  • Move the leftmost statue left, and a door will open. Grab Darkness Orb.
  • Back in the statue room, move the out-of-place middle statue to its center spot. Another door will open. Enter it.
  • Continue until you are in a room with ten torches. Light the bottom row of torches such that it matches the top row (aka, the 4th torch in both the top and bottom row will remain off). A door will open. Pick up Blue Ribbon
  • Back in the torch room, light the 4th torch in the top row to open the way forward.
  • Keep following the linear path, you'll eventually see Chain Mail and Collar in chests to the right.
  • Keep going to fight boss Abomination. Kahn can revive people, if needed.
  • Leave the castle. Kahn will leave for now. As you try to exit the area. Flik will come and a scene will play.

The Unification Army

Headquarters

  • Neclord's old castle in North Window is now your Headquarters.
  • After the scene, put together your party. For recruitment purposes now, only select female characters (other than Riou).
  • Feel free to roam your castle, but there's not much to do yet.
    • We'll get our Stone Tablet soon to count Stars of Destiny, but not quite yet.
  • Head to Kuskus.

Kuskus

  • Here, talk to the old woman near the entrance. She'll mention girls getting attacked.
  • Leave Kuskus and return. As you cross the bridge, a scene will take place. During the event, pick any options, and when Oulan asks to join, let her.
  • Head to Radat, to the east.

Radat

  • The item shop here may have Recipe #18 and Sound Set #5 in its Rare Finds.
    • You can always get these later, remember.
  • Head to the Tavern and speak to the chef in the white hat for Recipe #14.
  • Head east to the last house of the screen. This is Shu's house, and a scene will take place.
  • Afterwards, head to the tavern, then try to leave. Another scene.
  • In town, head south and talk to the man in the black coat, Richmond. Pay him 1500 Potch.
  • Rest at the Inn, and another scene will take place.
  • Head east a few screens of Radat to a bridge. Another scene.
  • Talk to the man in a white headband near the gate control to the left and ask him to close the gate. Amada will come, and plead with him to close it. You'll fight Amada in a one-on-one duel.

Duel: Amada

  • Just like any other duel, Attack > Defend. Defend > Special. Special > Attack.

The following list is based on a classic Duel Guide from Mikael Månsson. Some of the dialogue has been updated in the Remaster, but this should be a good reference about what Amada will do.

  • Amada will use Attack.
    • Ha ha ha ha! Too bad, boy!!! Now it's my turn!!!
    • Ouch! Pretty good! Ok, it's my turn next!
    • Ouch! I felt that one!
    • Thinking the same thing, eh. C'mon let's go.
    • Ouch! That musta hurt! Sorry about that.
    • Okay, first a little test.
    • YOWCH!!!!! Nice one! My hand's all numb!
    • ARGH!!!!..... Nice shot..... But it ain't over yet!!!!!
    • Hey, you're not gonna win that way y'know.
  • Amada will use Defend
    • Dammit!!! I might lose this one!!!
    • Got to keep your head cool when you're in a fight, y'know.
    • Damn! Dammit!!! Gotta think!!!!!
    • C'mon. It's your turn now.
    • Ha ha! Wanna try that again?
    • He he, first show me what you've got, boy.
    • Woa!!! That was scary!!!!!
    • I won't fall for that one again.
    • He he, I guess i'd better hold back a little.
  • Amada will use Special Attack
    • That won't get us anywhere! Try this one on fer size!!!!!
    • Better get ready. Here I go again.
    • Argh! I'll get ya next time!!!
    • Way to go, kid!!! But I won't lose that easy!
    • If ya liked that, I'll give ya some more.
    • Okay, boy, here I go!
    • He he, I'll show ya how to attack!
    • That was fun!!! Let's go again!!!
    • Okay, it's my turn next.
    • I'm just about ready to take the kid gloves off.
  • After, head south the bank for another scene. Shu will join you.

Headquarters

  • Return to Viktor in the command room for a scene.
  • When you have control again, save, and head back to the war room.

War Battle - Defending Headquarters

  • Turn 1: Move your units closer to Solon Jhee.
  • Turn 2: Have either Riou's group or the city-state solders attack Solon Jhee. This will cause some highland soldiers to defect.
  • Afterwards, just fight normally and use Riou's healing when necessary. Eventually, the Highlanders will retreat.

Headquarters

  • After the battle, scenes will take place. Viktor will ask to see you in the tavern, so go to him to learn some backstory.
  • The next morning, talk to Shu in the command room and accept the position of Commander.
  • During the scenes, Dr. Huan will show up, as will Leknaat and Luc.
  • Barbara has also joined, finally (!) giving you a warehouse to store your items. She's on the first floor. Find her and unload all your stuff.
    • Note: Barbara has less room to store stuff compared to Roc in Suikoden 1. Only keep what you really need to keep.
  • Now that we have the Stone Tablet of Promise, we can start counting our Stars of Destiny by talking to Luc. By now, you should have (in the order listed on the tablet):
    • Riou
    • Shu
    • Luc
    • Viktor
    • Flik
    • Tsai
    • Hanna
    • Anita
    • Nanami
    • Rina
    • Eilie
    • Bolgan
    • Freed Y.
    • Gilbert
    • Rikimaru
    • Huan
    • Tuta
    • Leona
    • Kinnison
    • Shiro
    • Zamsa
    • Mukumuku
    • Apple
    • Millie
    • Gengen
    • Barbara
    • Oulan
    • Templeton
  • That's 28/108!
  • Note: Luc is an exceptionally good mage unit. You can practically slot him into your party from now until the end of the game, updating his runes whenever needed.
    • I strongly suggest putting a Darkness Orb and Blue Gate Orb on him to improve his battle capability and aptitude.
    • Characters will gain more Rune slots as they level up.
  • Head to the exit of HQ for a scene.
  • Head back to the command room for a scene.
  • Head to the tavern to form your party. Use whoever you wish, except know we'll need Freed Y for some recruiting.
  • Head to Kuskus.

Kuskus

  • Save at the inn, then head to the docks to find Tai Ho and Yam Koo. Play Tai Ho's dice game and win 5000 Potch, then both Tai Ho (29/108) and Yam Koo (30/108) will join.
  • Head to Radat.

Radat

  • Head to the far S part of town and just before the area border, head right to talk to Yoshino, who is doing laundry. Yoshino will join, as long as Freed is with you. (31/108)
  • Talk to Richmond near the appraisal shop. He'll flip a coin and you have to pick Heads or Tails, but you can't win. Give up, and head to the tavern. Talk to the man seated at the table close to the entrance and he'll give you a regular coin. Go back to Richmond, offer to use the new coin, and he'll join (32/108).
  • Talk to Amada on the bridge, where he was before, and beat him in another duel. He'll join (33/108). You can scroll up slightly to check his battle shouts.
  • Head back to HQ.
Richmond's Investigations: Back at HQ, Richmond can 'investigate' the other characters in your team. This all just for flavor text, you don't get any items in-game for doing this, nor is it needed for any achievements. There are a few characters that are more limited in their availability to get investigations, however. If you are a completionist and care about this, click here to see which characters you should have Richmond investigation as soon as possible before you lose the chance to.

Headquarters

  • Stop by the tavern and put Tai Ho in your party in place of Amada. This is just for some optional dialogue later.
  • Stop by the command room for a scene.
  • Put together your party, and then head to the port of the HQ. To get to the port, from the main stairs on 1F, take the NE door just to the right of the stairs, then look for the anchor sign. A scene will take place.
    • Make sure somebody in your battle party as a Water Orb equipped for healing purposes. Nanami is a good choice.
  • Take the boat to Kuskus, then head to South Window.

South Window

  • [Clive's Story] Talk to Clive. As long as you took your boat out to sea once, he'll join (34/108). Since we'll need him around often for his events with Elza, it's worth keeping Clive equipped/sharpened, etc.
  • Head to the upper floor of the inn and talk to Alex and Hilda. They'll join (36/108). This adds an Item Shop and Inn to your HQ.
  • For the next recruit, buy a Wind Orb from the Rune Shop, and buy a Wooden Shield from the equipment shop. Also, take Clive's Sacrificial Jizo and place it in the bag. Head to the building NW of the equipment shop.
  • (Pay close attention to the dialogue choices here). Talk to Adlai. Give him the Sacrificial Jizo and Wooden Shield. Then THROW the Wind Orb at him. Adlai will join (37/108).
  • Now you can make your way to Lakewest Town. It's on the lake, to the west. You can board your boat from Kuskus or HQ.

The Allegiance of Two River

Lakewest

  • Fitcher will leave but give you a Letter of Introduction.
  • Check the barrel of vegetables just to your right for Kindness Orb. This is a great weapon orb for Riou, since it powers up for characters the longer they stay in the active party.
  • [Clive's Story] Enter the Inn and talk to the man in green by the counter. Technically, the timer needs to be less than 11 hours. Luckily in the remaster, you should have turned off your Event Timer by now.
  • Check the barrel but the northern houses for Cabbage Seeds.
    • In the remaster, there is an achievement for starting your garden, so you only need one set of seeds to do this. This guide will point out all seeds in the game, however.
  • Check the spice rack in the NW-most house for Recipe #16. This is missable! Then talk to Taki four times. She'll join up (38/108)
  • Head into Two River, west of Lakewest.

World Map - Lakewest Area

  • The Rockadillo enemies can drop Turtle Plans #1 here. This is used later in the game for your Guardian Deity. While there is an achievement for putting together a Guardian Deity, You don't technically need these specific plans at all for achievement purposes, but this is where you get them, if you want to collect them all.

Two River

  • Chaco will bump into you and steal all your potch!
    • You will eventually get this back, but not for a while. In the mean time, you might want to fight outside and earn some more.
  • The item shop here may have Recipe #23 in Rare Finds. Save and reload if you want to get it.
  • Head to the Inn and talk to Hans on the first floor. Go ahead and ask him to join, and don't ask for money in return. He'll join up, adding an armory to your HQ (39/108).
  • Note: There are a lot of scenes that will take place in Two River. For the record, none of the choices you make will have lasting consequences, so just pick what you'd like.
  • Head to the assmbly hall to the NW. Talk to the guards for a scene, but you'll introduction letter was stolen. Leave the screen to the NW and chase Chaco.
  • In the Winger District, chase Chaco until he is cornered for a scene.
  • Check out the Item shop in the Winger District. Go north and check out the shops in the Kobold District, then head back to the Assembly Hall for a scene.
  • Head inside for further scenes, then head to the Inn.
  • Talk to the innkeeper for a scene, then head to your room for another scene. In the morning, go downstairs for a scene, then back to the Assembly Hall for a scene.
  • Head to the Kobold District for a scene. Then leave back to Winger District for another scene.
  • Chase Chaco again, and he'll end up entering a sewer. This is your next dungeon.

Two River Sewers

  • Landsharks here can drop Recipe #21. Put this in your storage if you get it.
Potential Glitch Note: In the PS1 version of Suikoden II, there was a potential glitch that could take place regarding the five Recipe items dropped by enemies. These are Recipe #12, Recipe #21, Recipe #29, Recipe #34, and Recipe #36. As I understand it, the glitch was if you turned in any one of these recipes, the other recipes would no longer drop. The way to avoid this glitch was to put these five Recipes in storage until you got them all. I assume this glitch has been fixed in the remaster, but I'm placing this notice here just in case.
  • This is a linear dungeon, so I will simply list the items you will find along the way. You can always leave back into Two River if you need healing.
    • Headgear
    • Resurrection Orb
    • Keep going south. If you go west, you can run into Sid, but you can't do anything with him yet.
    • Healing Wind
    • At the next fork, head north for Fire Emblem and Stone of Protection.
    • Save when you reach the save point.
  • Boss: Pest Rat - This can be a tough boss if not prepared. Luc with Darkness and Blue Gate Runes can be very helpful. Riou should be on healing duty, and hopefully one of your party members has a Water Orb.
  • You'll end up in Kobold District. After the scene, make your way back to Two River for another scene. Head to the Assembly Hall for another scene. Now make your way to Winger District.
  • Follow Chaco for a scene. Then head back to the Two River Inn to spend the night.
  • Head outside for an automatic scene. You'll fight an event battle. If you choose "We have to hold them!" you'll fight two additional groups, which is good for EXP. After some scenes, one more event battle, and then more scenes.
  • In the morning, head to the assembly hall one last time. Fitcher will join (40/108), and Ridley will join (41/108) even though the game doesn't state this outright.
  • Head to the town entrance and talk to Chaco. Allow him to join (42/108). He also finally gives you your money back.
  • Leave town, but re-enter. Head to Granny Susu's house in Winger Disctrict and talk to her. You'll get Spinach Seedling. Also, buy some fried tacos from the Kobold District. You only need one.
  • Head back to Lakewest.

Lakewest

  • Save, then enter the north center building. Use Fried Tacos on Riou until his sprite changes, then talk to Tetsu. He'll join (43/108)
  • Head back to HQ.

Headquarters

  • Your castle is now at level 2.
  • From the Stone Tablet (where Luc usually stands), head east, south, past Tetsu's bath and up the stairs, then south, then south again. You'll run into Hai Yo, a chef. He'll join (44/108). We'll hold off on doing cookoffs for now.
  • Stop by the Tavern and put Gengen, Chaco, and Clive in your party, for recruitment purposes.
  • Head to Radat.
Cook-off Minigame: There is a minigame that takes place at Hai Yo's Restaurant over the course of the game where you will have to win several cook-offs. Save before each one, as if you fail, you won't be able to proceed (or at least, that's how it works in the original version of Suikoden II.) There's an achievement for doing all of these.

In order to access the minigame, head into Hai Yo's Restaurant. A contestant may be here, ready for a cook-off, which will lead to an automatic scene. You can choose to hold off on holding the cook-off, if you choose to. Remember to SAVE before doing so. The mini-game itself is mostly random. It largely depends on the judges randomly selected to score the meals. Also, it my experience it takes about 1 hour for the next contestant to arrive, and that hour must be spent outside of HQ.

Also, in the original Suikoden II, you had to turn into some condiments from Trading Posts to get them to appear as options in the cook-off. However, this no longer seems to be necessary - Condiments like Salt, Sugar, Soy Sauce, etc, are available from the get-go.

My go to recipe set was:

Appetizer: Salad + Soy Sauce == Island Nation Salad
Main Course: Tempura + Mayonaisse == Amazing Tempura
Dessert: Cake + Mayonnaise == Cheesecake (alternatively, Ice Cream + Sugar == Pudding)

For completionists, be careful not to defeat Lester, the tenth opponent, until you've done the sidequest in Gregminster, else you'll miss out on a Recipe. This is very unlikely to happen, but just be aware, you want to do the Gregminster sidequest before defeating Lester in the cook-offs. I will mention this later in this guide.

Radat

  • Talk to Stallion, the blue-haired elf running around. He'll challenge you to a race. You, the player, don't *actually* have to race him. This event will just check how many times you've run from battle. If you've run away enough time, you'll win, if not, Stallion will let you know how many more times you need to run. Let Go also counts. Stallion will join (45/108).
  • Head to Lakewest

Lakewest

  • Head to the Inn, save, and talk to Shilo on the left, ask him to join. Win 5000 Potch from him in the die game and he'll join (46/100).
  • Talk to Hix and Tengaar on the right side of the Inn. They'll leave after a scene, and we'll catch up with them later.

Two River

  • Head to the Kobold District. Head into the rightmost tent and talk to Gabocha. He'll join as long as Gengen is with you. You don't get a notification, he just joins after you leave. (47/108)
  • Into into the Two River sewers. On the screen with the save point / auto save, head west at the bottom of the ladder to find Sid. He'll join as long as Chaco is with you (48/108).
  • Exit Two River by exiting Kobold District to the west
  • On the world map, head to Muse-Greenhill border to the east.

The Occupation of Greenhill

Muse-Greenhill Border

  • Watch the scene. No matter which choices you pick, Meg (49/108) and Gadget (50/108) will join your army.
  • Head to the Forest Village to the FAR NW. Make sure Riou is level 30 or higher before entering.
  • Avoid Greenhill (the city in the center of this World Map region) for now.

Forest Village

  • [Clive's Story] Clive should make a remark here about Elza being here (Event Timer must be less than 13 hours). Head all the way north, past the trading post, and watch the scene.
  • In the trading post, talk to the man on the right for Old Book Vol. 6.
  • In the building right of the trading post talk to Tony, twice. He'll join (51/108). After he leaves, talk to the old man again for another Spinach Seedling.
  • Talk to the woman in orange, Wakaba, outside the Equipment Shop and select "Well, what about me?". If you are at least level 30, she'll join (52/108).
Missable Item alert: Ragged Ones on the world map in the Greenhill area can drop Turtle Plans #2. Now's the best time to get this. They can also drop Chick (the bath item, not the farm animal), if you care to collect these.
Achievement Alert: Talk to Tony at HQ to do the Whack-A-Mole minigame. You have to beat it on Hard Mode to get the Whack-A-Mole Master Achievement. I don't have any tips for this, just try it a few times to get familiar with it. You'll also get a Mole Suit for winning, which is a decent armor upgrade for robe-wearing characters at this point in the game.

Tengaar and Hix Sidequest

  • Head to the Kobold Village south of Two River
    • (Note NOT the Kobold District in Two River. Kobold Village is a different place entirely).
  • You'll see Tengaar and Hix again.
  • Item shop may have Recipe #31 in Rare Finds. Save and reload if you want to get it.
  • Enter the chief's hut at the top part of the village. After the scenes, you'll have to grab a Blue Stone, Red Flower, and Green Bell. Hix joins up for the quest.
  • Head all the way to South Window. Stop by HQ too, if you need to. Stop by the item shop, pick up the Blue Stone, and return to Kobold Village.
  • Next, you'll have to get a Red Flower from Cave of the Wind. Make the trip and do so.
  • Finally, you'll have to pick up the Green Bell from the Two River Sewer dungeon. Keep making your way through the dungeon and you'll find it.
  • When you return to Kobold Village, you'll learn Tengaar went to the Unicorn Woods.
  • Pick up Recipe #13 from the Kobold on the right side of the chief's tent.
  • Pick up Exertion Orb from the big mortar and pestle outside the chief's hut

Unicorn Woods

  • Do NOT open the first chest you see. This allows us to get another farm animal.
    • This requirement may no longer be needed for the remaster, but I'm just being safe. Don't open the chest. It's just a Collar anyway.
  • Eagle Man here can drop Recipe #12
    • As stated earlier, there used to be a glitch involving the five dropped recipes. Just to be safe, place this in storage and don't turn it in to Hai Yo until you get all five. That's Recipes 12, 21, 29, 34, and 36.
  • At the first fork do NOT go east. This has the chest we are skipping.
  • At the forks, go west, west, south to find Collar.
  • Go all the way north, then east, then north to Collar.
  • Go east to the next area.
  • Follow the path. At the fork, head NE to Collar. Then take the SE path.
  • You'll eventually run into a scene. Afterwards, Hix (53/108) and Tengaar (54/108) will finally join.
  • Once the sidequest is over, head all the way back to where the Unicorn was. Pick up Main Gauche and Guard Ring, hidden behind the tree.
  • Now is a good time to drop off seedlings at Tony, recipes at Hai Yo.
    • Don't turn in Recipes 12, 21, 29, 34, or 36 though, in case they are still glitched.

Headquarters

  • Head to the command room for a scene. In the morning, talk to Shu again to continue.
  • You'll have to make a party of your younger team members, since you are infiltrating an academy.
  • First stop by Forest Village (NW of Greenhill). The equipment shop is now open, plus, talk to the guy right of the shop keep. Pay 2000 Potch for Iron Hammer.
  • Then, head to Greenhill

Greenhill

  • Greenhill will have many events that are largely scripted sequences. This guide will do my best to walk you through it, of course.
  • During the scene, you'll get to pick names for your character, Nanami, and Flik. What you choose here does not matter. Head north for more scenes, and then you'll be in Greenhill proper.
  • The Item Shop has Recipe #25 in Rare Finds. Save beforehand if you want to try and get it.
  • Talk to the cook on the west side of the Inn for Recipe #20.
  • Head up north from the Inn to see a scene with a knight and a schoolgirl. Choose either option.
  • Head north to the next area, then straight north to the Academy. Speak with Emilia at the desk.
  • Before Following Emilia, talk to a student in the Rune Class to the right, who sells various Runes. Buy any that you'd like.
  • Head to the room on the NW corner of the first floor. Check the bookshelf for Old Book Vol. 5.
  • Talk to Emilia at the top center of the first floor.
  • After, talk to Emilia at her desk. Choose "Uh, about that man named Shin...", then choose either option, then choose "The truth is, we're actually.." While it's not explicitly said, Emilia has now joined you (55/108)
  • Leave the academy for a scene. Flik is now occupied...
  • Head to the dorm building to the west and talk to the woman at the counter. Head upstairs and south to your rooms. Tell Nanami "Yeah, I'm tired."
  • In the morning, head outside the dorm for a scene with Flik.
  • Head south of the Academy entrance to run into Emilia for a scene.
  • Head to the Inn for a scene. Choose either option.
  • Head to the northern part of town, outside the academy, for a scene.
  • Head to the dorms and choose to rest. Choose either option.
  • In the morning, head inside the Academy and talk to Nina on the left-hand side. Choose any option.
  • Leave the Academy for another scene with Flik.
  • Head to the southern section of Greenhill for a scene with Fitcher.
  • Head back north for a scene with Nina.
  • Head back to the dorms and choose to rest (options 2 or 3).
  • Nanami will wake you up in the middle of the night. Head north and a small scene will play.
  • After a little bit of running around, the 'ghost' will head to the basement.
  • In the basement, click the unlit lamp to open a door. Keep following the path to run into Flik, then continue west. Click the statue bust.

Greenhill Forest

  • When you reach the fork, head NE to Protection Mist. Then continue NW.
  • Keep following the path for a scene. Choose "We're on your side.'

Greenhill

  • In the morning, before talking to Flik, head into the academy and sharpen weapons at the Blacksmith class, if desired. They can upgrade to level 8.
  • Talk to Flik and tell him you're ready.
  • Head down to the southern portion of Greenhill for a scene. Choose any options.
  • Head back to Teresa's hideout, using the statue in the NW room of the academy. You'll have to fight several event battles on the way.
  • After the scene in Teresa's hideout, make your way back to Greenhill.
  • When you see the scene in front of the Academy, choose "Let's go help!". Fight two event battles.

Greenhill Forest

  • Make your way towards Teresa's hideout once again for another scene.
  • Head north to a new section of Greenhill Forest.
  • Take the SE fork to Toe Shoes.
  • Take the next N fork to Silver Hat.
  • On the next screen, you'll see Chimera Orb on the path.
  • You'll run into a scene. Choose whichever options you'd like.
  • Head South for more scenes.
  • New world map music! Head to Two River.

The Fall of Matilda

Two River

  • Stop in the Rune Shop. Ask Jeane to join, and she will (56/108)
  • Head to Kobold Village (south of Two River)

Kobold Village

  • Talk to Yuzu, the human girl near the trading post. Help her our by grabbing the sheep, and she'll join (57/108)
    • You can turn in the farm animals you find to Yuzu at HQ. There's an achievement for turning in one of each type. This guide will collect more than that, so you're covered!
  • Head back into the Unicorn Woods and head to the third screen. You should find a Lamb here, as long as you did NOT open the first chest.
    • This actually may no longer be the case in the remaster, but I have not tested it.
  • Head back to HQ.

Headquarters

  • Head to the command room for a scene. Teresa (58/108), Shin (59/108), and Nina (60/108) all join.
  • Sleep in your bed to continue. Then head to the command room once again.
  • Make your party, but be sure to put Clive into it for his next event. Viktor is also available for the first time in a while.
  • You can give your Old Books to Emilia (you should have 1 through 6 at this point), your Farm Animals to Yuzu, and any Seeds/Seedlings to Tony. Emilia is on the bottom left side of HQ, while Tony and Yuzu are on the upper right.

Kuskus

  • The Blacksmith here can sharpen weapons to 11. Definitely worthwhile.
  • Head north of Greenhill to the Path of Matilda

Path to Matilda

  • Doremi Elf can drop Sound Set #2
  • Papa Holly can drop Seed Potato
  • Zombie Slug can drop Recipe #29
    • None of these items specifically are needed for achievements, and none are missable as these enemies will always be here. You can always come back later for these.
    • Remember, to avoid a potential glitch, put Recipe #29 in storage for now.
  • After the scene, head north. You can't recruit Badeaux yet, so head east and north of him for Guard Ring.
  • Head west and north to the next area.
  • Head north into the next area.
  • Grab the chest with Mega Medicine, then head NE for Dragon Armor.
  • Take the lower east path. You'll run into Viki. Recruit her (option 1 or 2) and she'll join (60/108). You can decide whether or not you want to warp back to HQ now.
    • It's a good idea to drop stuff off at storage, i strongly suggest making room in your inventory. She can warp you right back.
  • On the next screen, you'll see a scene.

Rockaxe

  • Head straight north for a scene. Pick whichever option you want, then head to sleep.
  • In the morning, head north and down the stairs. Head towards the main room for another scene.
  • For this choice, just pick "I'll be watching." There's no reason to participate in the battle.

Battle Alongside the Matilda Knights

Just watch the battle. If you chose to participate, just wait. There's nothing you can do.

Rockaxe

  • After the battle, head down for a scene with Miklotov and Camus.
  • Head down into town, and enter the Appraise Shop you pass by. Examine the cabinet for a Violence Orb. Leave the shop and through the SW corner of the screen.
  • Here you'll see another scene with Miklotov.
  • [Clive's Story] To continue Clive's story (Event Time less than 14 hours), go to the Inn for a scene.

  • Talk to the boy in between the houses with a Calf. Buy it.
  • Head into the Inn for a quick scene with Futch and Humphrey, familiar faces.
  • Talk to Humphrey and you'll see a scene. Pick whichever options. In the morning, talk to Humphrey again, and pick either option.
  • Head outside for another scene. Speak to Humphrey again and pick either option. Talk to the innkeeper to rest, then head downstairs for as scene. When prompted, ask to come along. Put Futch and Humphrey into your party.
  • Head all the way north to Rakutei Mountain

  • West to Dragon Plans #2. Head south to the 2000 Potch chest.
  • Head to the east then continue north for a boss battle with Harpy.
  • Boss: Harpy - This boss can be tough and your party is largely set for you.
  • After the boss, select any options during the scene. Head north for another scene. When Humphrey prompts, ask him to join you.

Highway Village

  • Futch (62/108) and Humphrey (63/108) will join you
  • Speak to Kent's mom in the middle house for Recipe #32.
  • Make the trek to HQ if you need to. Viki can warp you back. When ready, head to Muse-Maltila Checkpoint, south of Highway Village.

Muse-Matilda Checkpoint

  • When speaking with Mikotov, choose "Okay." Stick him in your convoy.
  • When speaking to the guards to the south, choose either option.
  • Head to Muse.

Muse

  • You'll see a scene as you approach Muse.
  • Enter Muse proper for another quick scene.
  • Heads towards the NW exit for another scene and event battle.
  • Head back to Rockaxe. There will be a quick discussion at Muse-Matilda Checkpoint along the way.

Rockaxe

  • Watch the scene as you enter.
  • Then head back to Rockaxe Castle for more scenes. During this, Miklotov (64/108) and Camus (65/108) will be recruited.
  • You end up back at Headquarters.

Headquarters

  • Head to the command room for scenes.
  • At night, head to your room upstairs for a scene with Pilika.
  • In the morning, speak with Nanami downstairs and head to the command room. Make your party, and talk to Viki to warp to Radat.

Radat

  • Choose "Let's go inside".
  • Head south for a scene. Choose the second option for a bit of extra dialogue.
  • Head back to HQ.

Headquarters

  • On the way to the command room, you'll run into Eilie and Pilika.
  • Save, then head to the Command Room for a scene. You begin the next War Battle.

War Battle - The Defense of South Window

  • After a few turns, Ridley and the Kobolds will retreat. After this, avoid battles, stay healed, and eventually Shu will order a retreat.

Headquarters

  • After the battle, head to your room for a scene.
  • In the morning, head back to the command room.
  • Before setting off the battle, talk to Apple to rearrange your squads.
War Battle Squads: As long as your squads are filled out, you should be able to succeed in War Battles with some basic tactics. Here are some recommended combinations.

Riou / Shu / Humphrey
Viktor / Apple / Miklotov
Gilbert / Hanna / Chaco
Flik / Tsai / Tai Ho
Teresa / Nanami / Yam Koo
Luc / Jeane / Camus

With this set up, Flik will be able to do significant damage with Tsai's Fire Spears, and Luc will be able to hit with magic from afar. Humphrey allows Riou's team an extra 'sword' of damage.

Showdown With The Kibas

  • For the first few turns, just choose to wait.
  • When reinforcements arrive take out as many units as possible, but not Kiba's unit. Eventually, the Highlanders will retreat, and you'll win.

Headquarters

  • The choice here actually doesn't matter, as both Kiba (66/108) and Klaus (67/108) will join the army.
  • Head to the entrance of the castle for a scene.
  • Head to the command room for a scene. Choose "Let's form an alliance."
  • Put together your party, and make sure to include Clive.
  • Leave the Headquarters and reenter for it to upgrade to level 3.
  • Get a Celadon Urn from the Rope Climbing minigame, north of the cafe.
    • See the note below.
  • Talk to Viki and go to South City
Rope Climbing Minigame: North of Hai Yo's restaurant is a rope-climbing minigame. There are two achievement tied to this (one for beating it, another for beating it on the highest difficulty), but we also want to abuse this for a few other reasons. We need one Celadon Urn for a recruitment, but actually we will want to get five Celedon Urns. The reason for this is for another recruitment involving the Trading Posts, as well as a Trading Post achievement "Natural Born Trader" that requires you to earn 100,000 Potch. Celedon Urns are a highly valuable item that we will be selling soon, and you can sell them for over 25,000 Potch each. Hence, you need one for a recruitment, and four more to sell.

The rope-climbing mini-game takes some luck, but trust me, it's much faster than another other method here. Simply enter and exit the mini-game menu for the highest difficulty until the Celedon Urn shows up as a prize. There's not real trick to winning the mini-game. The new NPCs tend to over-use the 'markers', so you often can pass the by rolling the dice a little bit more often.

You'll also want to pick up Turtle Plans #4. This guide will assume you do this for a small event later.

TLDR: Get five Celedon Urns and Turtle Plans #4. This should take less than an hour.

South Window

  • Head to the town hall for a scene.
  • Check the equipment shop for some upgrades.
  • Head to Radat

The Alliance with the Toran Republic

Radat

  • [Clive's Story] Go the the tavern for a Clive event (Event Time less than 15 hours). You'll end up at HQ, so return to Radat.
  • Talk to the boy next to Shu's house and buy the Piglet for 5000 Potch.
  • Go to the bridge east of Radat, and talk to the boatman on the SE side.
  • Head SW on the boat to reach Banner Village.

Banner Village

  • You can get Rabbit Plans #3, Tomato Seedling, and Rose Brooch in the Rare Finds of the item shop.
    • You'll want to eventually get all of these, but it is tricky to get them all the show up at the same time. Get at least  the Rose Brooch for now, and you can get the others later.
  • Check a barrel left of the item shop for Alertness Orb.
  • Talk to a woman in a house north of the Inn for Seed Potato.
  • Head back to Radat.

Radat

  • On the west side of the river, talk to Simone. Select "You mean this?" and then "Join us.". Simone will join (68/108). You'll have to kick someone out of your party temporarily.
  • Talk to Lebrante in the Appraisal Shop. Select "We need your help." Talk to him again, and as long as you have a Celadon Urn, he'll join (69/108). He'll add an appraisal shop to HQ.
  • Reconfigure your party at HQ, then return to Banner Village.

Banner Pass

  • Tiger can drop Window Set #1.
    • In earlier versions of Suikoden II, there was a potential glitch that could occur where the Window Set items simply would not drop in battle. Thus, it was recommended to get this as soon as possible. I assume this has been fixed in the remaster, but I haven't thoroughly tested this.
    • There is a recruitment later that requires you to have a Window Set item, although not necessarily this specific one, any will do. You'll eventually get one from a chest (thus you don't *have* to wait for a rare item drop).
    • It took me roughly an hour to get this to drop ;(
  • At the fork, go north for Mega Medicine, then continue.
  • At the next fork, go east for Full Helmet, then continue.
  • When you encounter the ladders, go up the leftmost one for Stone of Luck.
  • At the second ladder fork, go up the western one, and then the eastern one for Wing Ornament.
  • Go down one ladder and up the left one and follow the path for Magic Ring.
  • Go up a ladder, down a ladder, down a ladder, then up the ladder to the right for Poison Orb. Continue to the next area.
  • On this screen, when you begin to head east, look south through the trees for a secret passsage. This will lead to the hidden ninja village of Rokkaku, but you'll be kicked out for now.
    • Simply enter the village for now to get an idea of where it is at, we'll be back later.
  • Continue east until you reach the save point. Head north for Silver Shield. Head south from the save point for Silverlets.
  • Then Save, head east for a boss.
  • Boss: Worm - This is one of the easier bosses in the game. If you spent time farming for Window Set #1, you are probably a bit over-powered.
  • Continue on for a scene. Choose "Please."

Gregminster

  • Enter the president's office for a scene. Choose "I want to forge an alliance with you." The second choice does not matter.
  • You get to choose Valeria or Kasumi, and this is a permanent choice for your 70th Star of Destiny. I suggest picking Kasumi, as it'll allow us to enter Rokkaku sooner. (70/108)
    • You can still get 108 Stars of Destiny if you pick Valeria, but it'll change up the order of recruitments, mostly delaying a few. This guide will assume you picked Kasumi. Ninjas are cool..
  • You'll obtain the Blinking Mirror, which lets you warp to HQ from the world map.
    • With Viki and the Blinking Mirror. You can now effectively warp from anywhere on the map to anywhere else on the map. Not all locations are warp-able, and sometimes the story will limit where you can go, however. You can use the Blinking Mirror from the World Map.
  • Sheena will also formally join (71/108).
  • Talk to Vargas again to return to Gregminster
  • You can get Recipe #28 from Rare Finds in the Item Shop.
  • You can get a Flowing Orb and a Mother Earth Orb from the Rare Finds in the Rune Shop, which is excellent for healing and defence respectively. I strongly suggest getting both eventually.
    • You can come back to Gregminster at any time, although you have to walk from Banner Village.
  • Head north into Gregminster Palace. Talk to the solder just to your right for Copper Hammer.
  • Examine the book shelf up and left of here for Old Book Vol. 7. Head back to the city.
  • Head left from the golden fountain statue and talk to Lorelai. Ask her to come with you, and if your HQ is level 3, she will (72/108).
    • Feel free to send her on her own, no need to add to your immediate party.
  • Above the trading post is a man wearing green. Buy a Tomato Seedling for 700 Potch.
  • Go to the Inn and talk to Sarah. You'll gain Cyclone Orb, which is a stronger version of Wind Orb.
    • Give this to Luc or whichever mage you prefer. It is very useful!
  • Save you game here. Go to the trading post and talk to Gordon. Choose "Join us". He'll join if you can make 50,000 profit from trades.
    • We actually need to make 100,000 profit for an achievement.
  • Check the trading post and the price of Celedon Urbs. There's some randomness in pricing. Hopefully you'll earn 100,000, gaining Gordon and an Acheivement. Otherwise, reload and try again. (73/108)
  • Talk to Vargas near the castle and leave Gregminster.
  • Retrace your steps to Rokkaku, now that Kasumi is with you.

Rokkaku

  • During the scene, Mondo will join you (74/108). Choose "No." to send him back to HQ.
  • Leave the chief's tent. Talk to the ninja in green for Blinking Orb.
  • Talk to Sasuke to the left and he'll join up (75/108).
  • Go inside the trading post and downstairs. Buy a Piglet from the person sitting at the table for 3000 Potch. Talk to the other person nearby for Sound Set #6.
  • Make your way back the Banner Village.

Banner Village

  • There's a scene here, and you'll automatically be taken by to HQ

Headquarters

  • There's a small scene here, but before we heading to the command room, we're going to do some recruitment.
  • Form your party, but make sure you include Mukumuku and Nanami.
  • Grab a Sound Set (any Sound Set) from your storage as well. You should at least have Sound Set #1 (from the first Clive event).
  • Head to Path to Matilda (listed at Viki as "Forest Path (Greenhill-Matilda))

Path to Matilda

  • Talk to Badeaux here. He'll join as long as your brought Mukumuku (or Shiro) (76/108). You will also get two Listening Orb key items.
  • Now head to Forest Village
    • Use the Blinking Mirror from the World Map to return to HQ, then talk to Viki to warp. This is basically how you'll be getting around most of the time.

Forest Village

  • Go into the house above the Inn and talk to Connell. Ask him to join, and he will, as long as you have a Sound Set. You may have to speak with him twice. (77/108)
    • You can turn in your Sound Sets to Connell at HQ. He's on the balcony on 3F above the command room.
  • Head north of the Trading Post here for a scene. When given the option choose "Save her." You'll fight an event battle.
  • After the battle, Use a Listening Orb. Feather the Griffin will join (78/108). Then Ayda will join (79/108).
  • Enter the Trading Post and immediately exit. Head north and talk to the guy with the Lamb. Buy it for 4000 Potch.
  • You're done in Forest Village. Head to Kobold Village.

Kobold Village

  • Head all the way to the end of the Unicorn Woods.
  • You'll get an option to Use a Listening Orb. As long as Nanami (or Tengaar) is with you, select the option "Say yes." Siegfried the Unicorn will join. (80/108)
  • Now head to the Kobold District in New River

Two River

  • Talk to Bob in the Kobold District. As long as you have 80 Stars of Destiny (which you should have exactly 80), he'll join (81/108). For the second choice, option 1 has him join the party immediately, while option 2 sends him to HQ.
  • Head to Lakewest.

Lakewest

Pick up the Chick on the beach (a real chick, what were you thinking?). You can turn this into Yuzu like other animals.

Mukumuku's Friends

  • You can do this at any point, but now's a good time. Mukumuku has four friends. They will join your party automatically from the World Map. You have to recruit them in order, and each are found in different sections of the world, around Greenhill.
    • These characters are not Stars of Destiny, but you need to get them all for an achievment
  • There's some randomness here. Have Riou travel the world solo. When you stand in the locations listed below, there's a chance the squirrel will automatically join your party. You don't have to battle at all. I found it easiest to take the squirrel out of my party as soon as they joined, as it seemed I had the best luck with recruitment when Riou was alone in the party. Each took me ~5 minutes
    • Makumaku - On the road between Two River and Greenhill
    • Mikumiku - On the road between Greenhill and Forest Village
    • Mekumeku - On the road between Greenhill and Path the Matilda
    • Mokumoku - In the clearing south of Forest Village.
  • After this, set your party and head to the command room.
Telescope: Now's as good a time as any to check out the telescope south of your HQ's library for the Observation Deck achievement.
Fishing: There's an achievement for the game for catching each type of fish called Fishing Master. You can do this at any time after recruiting Yam Koo, but I did this here. The most difficult fish to catch is the salmon. The mini game is very simple. Simply wait for the bite (sometimes takes several seconds) and then press the confirm button to keep the meter in the window.

In my experience, the rarer fish are more likely to show up once you've caught 3 of each of the more common fish. So, Salmon may not appear until you have 3 Shrimp, and Shrimp might not appear until you have 3 Shellfish, etc.

It took me about an hour to catch a Salmon and wrap up the achievement.

Headquarters

  • See a scene in the command room.
  • There are various scenes to see at night:
    • Nanami and Pilika in your bedroom.
    • Flik and Nina on the roof.
  • Head to bed.
  • In the morning, have a chat with Nanami, then head to the Command Room on 2F. You'll head into your next War Battle.

War Battle - The Battle to Rescue Ridley

  • Simply let Ridley fall in battle, and the event will head. Don't worry, Ridley won't die.

Headquarters

  • After the battle, head to your room on the top floor for a scene.
  • Put Tsai in your party and head for Ryube.

Ryube

  • Head to Tsai's house at the end of the Ryube Forest. After the scene, Tomo will join (82/108)
  • Head back to HQ.

Headquarters

  • Head to your room and sleep.
  • Head to the command room. Before setting out to battle, take time to adjust your armies by speaking with Apple.
War Battle Line Ups

Hero / Shu / Humphrey
Viktor / Apple / Miklotov
Kasumi / Jeane / Klaus
Kiba / Hanna / Huan
Gilbert / Shin / Chaco
Flik / Tsai / Tai Ho
Teresa / Nanami / Klaus
Ayda / Yam Koo / Lorelei
Luc / Freed Y / Templeton
  • Save, then head to the Command Room and begin the next War Battle

War Battle - The Final Battle with Luca

  • You basically just need to do some damage to Luca's unit, which is easier said than done. That's it. After this, you'll retreat.
  • Flik's Fire Spear is usually what does the trick for me. Reload if luck doesn't go your way.
  • When back at HQ, you'll see Ridley is safe, and you'll be given the option to attack Luca Blight during his night raid. Don't do this yet, we need to prepare first.

Luca Blight

The battle against Luca Blight is the most difficult in the game. You'll actually need to prepare three teams of combatants to take him down, not just one. The first group will be led by Flik, the second ground by Viktor, and the third by Riou. So you will need 18 total combatants, including those three

There are many guides out there with strategies to do this, but I will give key points:

Make sure all characters are at lease level 37. You should be able to reach this around Banner Pass without too much hassle.
This should be obvious but equip these characters with the best armor you can buy, and sharpen weapons to 11 at Kuskus.
Lightning Orbs are the easiest way to damage Luca. Have 2 or 3 magic casters in each group equipped with Lightning Runes. Make sure they can cast the third-level spell.
Put the Fire Sealing Orb on Riou. You should have picked this up a long time ago at the Muse-Highland Checkpoint. This will prevent him from taking fire damage from Luca.
Put the Mother Earth Orb on Riou. You can get this from Rare Finds in Gregminster. This Rune has a protection spell that is extremely useful. Honestly, you should keep this on Riou for the rest of the game.
Viktor is terrible at magic, so give him anything the raises his attack capability or survivability.

Other characters worth using:
Oulan with Fury Rune - allows her to do her special move every turn.
Shin, Lorelai, and Sheena can tank some damage when placed in the front rows.
Miklotov and Camus - I suggest putting both in Flik's group.
Magic casters - Luca, Viki, Rina, Nina, Tengaar, Yoshino, etc. Give them Lightning Runes if you can.
Humphrey - Put him in Riou's team. He'll act primarily as a tank for damage.
Make sure someone in Riou's team (other than Riou) has a Water or Flowing Orb to heal.

You can place Sacrifical Jizos on each character, too, to improve battle survivalability.
  • With all that said, when ready, talk to Shu, select your parties, and move out.
  • Follow the events and take down Luca Blight!

Duel: Luca Blight

  • Afer beating Luca in battle, Riou will have to duel him one-on-one. Frankly, Luca is so worn down by this point that this duel is hard to lose.
  • Just like any other duel, Attack > Defend. Defend > Special. Special > Attack.

The following list is based on a classic Duel Guide from Mikael Månsson. Some of the dialogue has been updated in the Remaster, but this should be a good reference about what Luca will do.

  • Luca will Attack
    • You little punk!!!
    • Idiot!!!! Is that the best you can do!!!!
    • Hah...... A draw..........
    • That's Nothing
  • Luca will Defend
    • Hah...hah hah hah... Fighting is my life.....
    • Fool!!!! That can't stop me!!!!!!
    • Pathetic!!!! That's what you call power!!!!
    • Ridiculous!!! You think a punk like you can stop me!!!!!
    • You fool!!!!!!
  • Luca will use Special Attack
    • Hah........ Are we still doing this....
    • You Pig!!!!! You dare wound me!!!!!

Headquarters

  • After all the scenes, you'll wake up in your room and reunite with Nanami.
  • Enter the Command Room, talk to everyone, and then leave. Nanami should comment about visiting South Window and Kuskus.
  • Put together a team of 5 people, leaving one slot open. Head to Banner Village.

Banner Village - Tir McDohl Sidequest

  • This is the earliest point in the game you can do this sidequest, but you can always do it later.
  • Head to the path to the right of the Inn. Speak with Gremio.
  • Head back into Banner village and talk to Ko, the boy dressed up as Riou. Choose "Yeah."
  • Talk to Gremio again. Then, talk to Tir. Pick any options, but choose "Let's go." when prompted.
  • Tir will join the party! He's not a Star of Destiny, though. His Soul Eater Rune is extremely potent.
  • Head up the path through Banner Pass. You'll eventually meet some bandits in a scene. Choose either option.
  • Continue and interact with Ko.
  • Boss: Worm / Poison Moth - This boss is tough at this point in the game, but I don't think you can lose this battle, since Tir and Riou will automatically beat him if you lose.
  • Continue on to Gregminster. Then, leave the palace for more scenes. After dinner, begin to head out of the McDohl household.
  • When speaking with Cleo, choose any options. When you can, head to the castle.
  • Choose to be taken back to Banner Village. Head into the village for one last scene.
  • Now you can get Tir to join at any time! ... you just have to go to Gregminster to get him.
Cook-off Note: Now that you've met Gremio, you are free to finish the Cook-off minigame. Basically, you'll be able to pick up an extre recipe from Gremio after beating Lester (the tenth opponent) in the Cook-off, but if you beat Lester before doing this quest, you won't be able to.

South Window

  • There's a scene as soon as you enter. Choose "I accept your pledge." and Max will join (83/108)
  • Head for the Inn for another scene. Follow Annallee to the right of City Hall for another scene. Choose either option for the first choice, then choose "Yeah... Let's hear it."
  • After she sings, choose "I'd...like to hear you sing some more.". Annallee joins! (84/108).
  • Talk to the very flashy man in red near the trading post, Killey. Choose "Alex knows a lot about Sindar Ruins." Head back to HQ.

Headquarters

  • Head to Alex's Item Shop for a scene. Pick either option. Head back to South Window.

South Window

  • Talk to Killey and pick either option. Talk to him a second time and choose "Um... Would you care to join us?" three times. Killey will finally join (85/108).
  • Head to Radat.

Radat

  • Head to the Tavern and speak to Hoi. Pick whichever options throughout the scene. Hoi will join (86/108).
  • Return to HQ for one last scene with Hoi.
  • Head to Kuskus.

Kuskus

  • Head to the Inn, save, then talk to Karen. Choose "Join us.", then "That's not true." then either option, then "Okay, you're on!"
  • Beat the dance minigame and she'll join.  (87/108)
  • The order is, using the right-side face buttons: up, left, right, down, up, down, right, left.
    • To be clear, these are the face-buttons on the controller, not the d-pad. Obviously the buttons will be labeled different whether you are playing on PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch.
Karen's Dance Minigame: Now that you've recruited Karen, there is a dance minigame you can do at HQ. You must beat all five ranks of the dances for the Lord of the Dance achievement.

The first three dances have the following patterns on the face buttons.
First: up, left, right, down, up, down, right, left
Second: up, left, right, down, up, down, right, left, up, left, right, down, up, down, right, left
Third: right, left, up, up, left, down, right, down, right, left, up, up, left, down, right, down, right, left, up, up, left, down, right, down

The fourth and fifth dance patterns are random, long, and difficult. My honest suggestion is to record Karen's dance (either with a capture device or just your phone), and then when it is Riou's turn, play it back and follow along. It might take a few tries to get the timing right, but this is probably the most straightforward way to do this.

You'll gain the achievement once you've finished Karen's fifth dance. You all get some valuables for each level of dance you complete, which you can sell or place in Storage.

Kuskus

  • Head west of the Blacksmith for a scene. Follow the men for a scene. Head back to HQ.

Headquarters

  • Head to the command room. Choose "I'm going to Muse."
  • Teresa will join your Convoy and Chaco will be forced into your battle party. Pick your other three characters.
  • When forced out onto the world map in your boat, head across the lake to Coronet to the north.

Coronet

  • See the scene with the soldiers and pass through.
  • Head to Muse

Muse

  • In Muse, make your way to the meeting hall on the NW side of town.
  • Choose either option for the first choice.
  • For the second choice, you either have to pick the first option three times, or the second option once. Either way results in the same outcome.
  • After you start running, for the third choice, pick either option.
  • As you make your escape from the city, you'll be attacked by Highlanders.
  • After some scenes, you'll end up back at HQ.

The Neclord Diversion (again)

Headquarters

  • Speak to Shu near the stone tablet.
  • Speak with Nanami in your bedroom.
  • Head to the castle exit for a scene with Koyu. Choose "Yes, you're right.". Then choose "Yeah, for sure."
  • Of course, take Nanami along too.
  • I also suggest bringing along Wakaba for a recruit. We also need a Window Set for a recruitment. You may have one from the Tigers in Banner Pass. You'll eventually find Window Set #5 in a chest, so don't worry if you did not get the rare drop earlier.
  • Teleport to Kobold Village, then head SW to Drakemouth Village

Drakemouth

Enter for a quick scene.
Head north and talk to the guy in a hat. Buy his Calf for 6000 Potch.
Head into the eastern house through the side door (you can see the stone step path). Check the crate with a bag on it for Cabbage Seeds.
Talk to the guard in the NW corner of town. Head into Drakemouth Path.

Drakemouth-Tigermouth Path

  • Airlizards can drop Window Set #2.
    • You need a Window Set for an upcoming recruit, but again, you will eventually get a Window Set in a chest, so you do not have to get the rare drop if you can't be bothered to.
  • At the first fork, take the upper path like Koyu suggests.
  • At the second fork, go right for Master Robe. Then take the other fork for a scene.
  • Head back to the first fork, then west to Tigermouth Village.

Tigermouth Village

  • There's a quick scene when you enter.
  • Head all the way south and pick up the baby Chick you see.
  • Talk to the man in a brown shirt for Tomato Seedling.
  • Head into the southern house and check the bookshelf for Old Book Vol.8
  • Head west out onto the World Map, then west to Crom Village.

Crom Village

  • If Wakaba is with you, head into the Inn to bump into her master, Long Chan-chan.
  • Go behind the Item Shop to speak to Long Chan-Chan. He'll join up (88/108)
  • Enter the NE house and talk to Tenkou. Give him a Window Set but DO NOT charge for it. He'll join (89/108). Note you won't actually give him the Window Set yet, but you need to have one for him to join.
    • You can turn in your Window Sets to Tenkou at HQ. He's on the balcony on 3F above the command room, near Connell.
    • If you don't have a Window Set yet, you'll get one shortly..
  • Leave Crom and enter Tinto to the NE.

Tinto

Note: There are a lot of events in Tinto, Crom and the nearby area. This guide will try to walk you through them all.
  • The Blacksmith here can sharpen weapons to 13
  • The armor shop has new equipment. Rare Finds may have a Taikyoku Wear or Wind Hat.
  • Check the square minecart near the Armory door for Power Ring.
  • There are two houses SE of the Armory. A man in the left one gives Unicorn Plans #3, while the right one gives Dragon Plans #3.
  • Head up from the Blacksmith and talk to the red-haired woman. Choose "If you're looking for Jeane, she's at our castle." Raura will join (90/108).
    • Raura can turn Orbs into Scrolls. We'll actually be using this soon enough...
  • Talk to the man in front of the door for a scene. Head inside for another scene. Choose "We'll fight together."
  • When speaking to Marlowe, pick either option. Head into your room and select "Sure."
  • In the morning, head into Gustav's room for a scene. Head to the entrance of town to reunite with Neclord. After Neclord leaves, return to Gustav's room for another scene.
  • When Jess makes a surprise appearance, choose either option. Head south a bit for another scene with Jess.
  • You'll want to make a save here.
  • Head back to Gustav's room and choose "You're right."
  • At night, talk to Lilly in the hall. Then head to bed.
  • After you head to bed. Leknaat will appear for a scene. Then, head to Nanami's room on the right and speak with her.
  • IMPORTANT: When Nanami asks you to stop fighting, the correct answer is to choose "They need me." and "I'm sorry." If you pick the other options, you will run away, which can lead to either an slightly varied story route or a bad ending.
The story may branch here a little bit depending on your responses to Nanami. This guide will assume you stayed to fight. If you saved before hand, feel free to check out the other branches if you would like.

If you were curious, there are no achievements for seeing a bad ending or anything like that.
  • Head to Gustav's room, again. Then head to the entrance of town, again.
  • When you get control, head outside and east towards the mine for a scene. Head inside (you can squeeze around the left of the miners).

Tinto Mine

  • Follow the linear path. When you reach the fork, head north.
  • You'll fight Neclord, but you can't win. Just defend until the battle ends.
  • Heal up, then leave the mine.
  • After the scenes, you'll end up in Crom Village.

Crom

  • In the morning, head downstairs. Talk to Leona and grab your favorite party members (if you had Tir you won't be able to add him at this point).
  • Head south in Crom to once again run into Kahn. He'll join up. You can either put him in your battle party or convoy.
  • Head to Tigermouth.

Tigermouth

  • During the scene with Sierra, choose "Let's do it."
  • You'll have to fight Sierra, but it's more of an event battle than a boss.
  • Afterwards, Sierra will also join for now.
  • Head back to Crom.

Crom

  • Enter the northernmost house for a scene.
  • This is optional, but at night, talk to Sierra and Kahn for some background.
  • Head to bed.
  • In the morning, head downstairs for another scene. You'll have to reform your party, and Kahn & Sierra either have to be in your battle party or convoy.
    • Make sure you have someone capable of doing Lightning damage, to make an upcoming boss easier.
    • Also, you may want to make sure you have some extra Medicines or Mega Medicines in your bag. You'll have to trek through a long dungeon and take on two bosses, and having some spare medicine will help your resource management.
    • You probably want a few physical attackers who dont rely on magic to deal damage. You'll be trekking through a long dungeon and wil run out of spell charges relatively quickly.
  • Head to Tinto Mine from the world map.

Tinto Mine

  • On the first screen, head east to the next area.
  • The second screen is a linear path with one exit.
  • On the third screen, take the right fork for Dancing Flames. Then take the left fork.
  • Keep following the path. Eventually you'll see chests with Full Helmet and Stone of Magic Protection.
  • Keep following the linear path. You'll soon run into Master's Garb.
  • Keep following the linear path until you pass under a bridge. Keep heading north to pass under another bridge for Window Set #5 and Old Book Vol. 9.
    • If you did not pick up Tenkou in Crom Village, you can now do that the next time you are able.
  • Follow the path to the NE.
  • In the room where the autosave takes place, head south for Silver Collar. Head east for Mega Medicine.
  • Head back to the entrance of this room, and head east. Take the eastern slope down twice. Go south and slide down a third slope for Double-Edged Orb.
  • Head up towards the man here, Mazus. He won't join yet, but keep him in mind for later. Head NE towards the save point.
  • Take the north path to get Star Earrings. Take the SE path from the save point to get Wind Hat. Then take the S path from the save point.
  • Follow the path until you get to a fork. Move the crate to act like a bridge between the ledges to the north.
  • Leave to the west and follow the linear path. You'll run into a boss.
  • Boss: Stone Golem - weak to lightning.
  • After the boss, follow the path past several screens. You'll find the area where Neclord attacked Riou and Nanami before. Past that, take the east path for Cape of Darkness.

Tinto

  • Finally back in Tinto. Head west for an event battle. Head west past the Guild Hall for another battle.
  • Head up north for a scene. Head inside and you'll fight Neclord.
  • Boss: Neclord
    • You're probably running low on resources at this point, but Neclord's HP pool is actually relatively low. Have Riou use his Mother Earth Orb for protection, and otherwise use whatever you have left.
  • Head back to the entrance of town for a scene. Choose the following the options when speaking to Jess:
    • "I don't want to run away anymore."
    • "Let's fight...together."
    • "I'm not betraying anyone."
  • Head back to the Gustav in his building, He'll give you Mother Earth Orb.
    • Put this on Riou if you haven't already..
  • Head to the Elder's house in Crom in the far NE part of the city for Sunbeam Orb.
  • After all this, the following people have joined your army:
    • Hauser (91/108)
    • Sierra (92/108)
    • Jess (93/108)
    • Gijimu (94/108)
    • Lo Wen (95/108)
    • Koyu (96/108)
    • Marlowe (97/108)
    • Kahn (98/108)
  • Head to Tigermouth - Drakemouth Path

Tigermouth - Drakemouth Path

  • Head east to the fork, and take the lower branch. Talk to Georg. Choose either option. Then ask him to join. (99/108)
  • Head to South Window

South Window

  • Here, talk to Gansetsu and ask him to join. Your party will push him (literally). You should be able to recruit him at this point. If not, push stronger characters in your party (100/108).

The Liberation of Greenhill

Headquarters

  • Head to the command room for a scene when ready. Pick any option to continue.
(If you chose to run earlier with Nanami, the scene here may be slightly different, where you'll be introduced to Boris, replacing Ridley's Star of Destiny. This guide assumes you didn't do this, however.)
  • Head to your room. Sheena will leave your party for now, and it'll be nighttime.
  • At night you can see various scenes between party members. You'll need to see one to continue.
    • Flik/Nina on the roof (only if you saw the first part of this conversation earlier).
    • Chaco on the stairs above the save point near the Command Room.
    • Eilie, Rina, and Bolgan near Luc's tablet on the first floor.
    • Gengen and Gabocha near the storehouse.
    • Freed and Yoshino in the Inn.
    • Tsai and Tomo south of the storehouse (after seeing the scene with Freed & Yoshino).
  • Head back to your room when ready. You'll be attacked by an assassin. You should win without much issue.
  • After the battle, pick any options, as the outcome will be the same regardless.
  • Afterwards, head back to the command room. You'll have to make a choice here that slightly alters the next war battle.
    • If you choose Viktor's unit, you'll do a war battle at the Muse-Greenhill border
    • If you choose General Kiba, you'll do a war battle at Greenhill
    • If you choose, I'll wait here, you won't do a war battle at all but command the troops from your command room.
  • I'll choose the third option as it's the quickest and safest, as it's less risky for a Star of Destiny to die. If you choose this option, simply wait in the command room as your reports come in. When your reports come in during the battles, always pick the top option.
  • When you regain control in Greenhill. Shin will ask to join your group. Go ahead and choose "Sure.", you can put him in your convoy if you don't want to use him in battle.
  • Select the rest of your party.
    • Shortly you'll need Nanami to be leveled up, so include her here.
Upcoming Battle Tip: An upcoming boss is challenging but weak to Wind. I strongly suggest heading back to HQ, buying Wind Orbs from Jeane and making Scrolls with Raura. Put a Shredding Wind scroll on each party member (you can discard the other scrolls made from the Orbs).

Greenhill

  • In the Greenhill Forest, the Doremi Elf (any color) can drop Recipe #34.
    • As stated before, put Recipe #34 in storage. There's only one more dropped Recipe.
  • You will fight some event battles with Highlanders on the path.
  • On the path, continue heading north for Winged Boots. Go north a bit more for Dream Robe.
    • (I suggest you *don't* put this on Nanami).
  • Continue on the path for Stone of Skill.
  • Keep following the path until you run into Lucia and some Karayanas for an event fight. Use your strongest magic here, as you'll be able to rest before the next boss. She'll drop a Blue Gate Orb.
  • After the boss, head west and south and you'll eventually hit Teresa's hideout.
  • You can't do anything at the hideout, so continue on.
  • Once you enter the rear of the academy make your way to the front and leave out the entrance.
  • In front of the academy, you'll see a Greenhill soldier and a student. Speak with the student to heal and the soldier to save.
  • Head to the south, fighting a few event battles with Highlanders.
  • At the entrance to Greenhill, you'll find Yuber. He'll summon a Bone Dragon.
  • Boss: Bone Dragon. Weak to wind. I hope you followed my advice. Use all your Shredding Scrolls here. The Cyclone Orb's Shining Wind is useful here.
  • After defeating the boss, several scenes will take place.

Headquarters

  • When given the option, choose "Let me think about it."
  • Put Viktor and Simone in your party.
  • Make sure you have an Escape Talisman on hand.
  • Head to Kuskus.

Kuskus

  • Head to the blacksmith and talk to Tessei. As long as Viktor is with you, he'll ask to join (101/108).
  • This should make your HQ Level 4. One way to check this is to head to the baths and see if Jungle Bath is available. If it is, then your HQ is level 4.
  • Stop by Greenhill.

Greenhill

  • You can find Window Set #6 and Rabbit Plans #4 in the Greenhill Item Shop's Rare Finds, now that it's been liberated.
  • Head to the Inn and talk to Pico near the door. Choose "Um, did you say "Annallee"?. Pico will join (102/108).
  • Head to the northern area of Greenhill where the academy is. Above the dorms, interact with the Piglet to pick up a Piglet.
  • Head into the Dorm and talk to the man for Old Book Vol. 10.
  • Head into the academy and talk to the Rune Class instructor for Rage Orb. This is an improved Fire Orb.
  • Head into the Blacksmith class and talk to the boy on the right for Silver Hammer.
  • Talk to Jude in the Blacksmith Class. He'll mention he needs clay.

Headquarters

  • Give Tessai all the Hammers you have (which should be Copper, Iron, and Silver). He can now upgrade weapons to 15, one shy of max.

Forest Village

  • Talk to the girl in the house above the Inn for Sound Set #7.
  • Head north past the trading post and to the right. Talk to the man for Clay.

Greenhill

  • Return to Jude in the Blacksmith class and he'll join (103/108)

Greenhill area on World Map

  • Get Spinach Seedling from Eye Flower. I'm only listing this here because there's no where else to put it. This is only for completionists.

Headquarters

  • Make sure you have an Escape Talisman, as you'll be needing it soon.
  • You can give Jude all your various Plans to build a "Great Deity". At this point you should have all Rabbit Plans or all Turtle Plans.
    • You can mix-and-match plans and you can build whatever you want. You'll get an achievement and a bonus item depending on the coordination of Plans. You can only get one bonus item. You can adjust your Deity at any time, however.
    • I suggest Turtle / Turtle / Dragon / Unicorn, which will give you a Friendship Orb Weapon Rune.
      • The Friendship Weapon Rune strengthens weapons based on the number of recruits, so it's quite good by this point!
    • Check out this classic guide from Sir Aronar to see other combinations and the resultant item you'll obtain.

Tinto

  • Talk to Alberto in the Armory. He'll join as long as you have Annallee recruited(104/108).

Tinto Mine

  • Enter from the world map
  • Make your way to the room with the Save Point and slides. It's a long way in, but the path is straightforward. Talk to Mazus and he'll join. (105/108)
  • Use an Escape Talisman to exit.

Radat

  • Head to where you picked up Simone on the left side of the river. Vincent is here, and he'll join as long as Simone is with you (106/108).

Cave of the Wind

  • Head to the end of the cave. It's a long path, but relatively straightforward. You'll have to do the stone pushing puzzle again.
  • At the end, you'll find Pesmerga. He'll join. (107/108)
    • No need for Escape Talisman here and you can leave out the opening at the end.
  • Make sure you have a character whose weapon level is at least 14. Pesmerga's starts at 14 (it may be 16 if you imported Suikoden 1 data)

Coronet

  • Head to Coronet. You can can reach here by warping to Lakewest, boarding your boat, and heading to the northern city of the lake.
  • Talk to Genshu on the docks. Show him your weapon. He'll join (108/108).
    • That's all Stars of Destiny!
  • Check your stone tablet to make sure you didn't miss anyone.

Finale

Headquarters

  • When ready, save, then head to the command room and talk to Apple for a scene.
  • When you have control, leave the dorms for a scene. Head through the academy to the secret path and you'll run into Jowy. The choice you pick here does not matter.
  • Make your way back to the dorms for another scene. Choose "Good, let's advance."

The Battle to Retake Muse City

  • Here, hold back and let the Karayans come to you.
  • After three turns, the Highlanders will retreat, leaving you with just four squads to defeat.
  • You can also end this battle by having a unit enter Muse.
  • Make sure none of your characters die.

Muse

  • You'll get a chance to reconfigure your party here.
  • Head into the city and make your way to city hall straight north.
  • Boss: Golden Wolf - An easy boss at this point of the game. Use physical attacks.
  • Head straight south and leave Muse for a scene.

Headquarters

  • Rest and save. If you want the game's True Ending, you want all 108 Stars of Destiny at this point.
  • Head to Shu;s room on 4F for a scene with Kiba and Shu. Talk to Shu when you can. Select "We will fight."
  • In the next scene. Leknaat will appear. She should mention that all 108 Stars of Destiny are here and unlock the final ability of the Bright Shield Rune - Sign of Forgiveness.
    • Make sure this happens! If you don't get the Sign of Forgiveness ability for Riou's Bright Shield Rune, then you missed something.
  • In the morning. Nanami will wake you up.
    • Make sure Nanami is leveled up  and has the best equipment you can buy (Silver Hat, Magic Robe, 3x Cape of Darkness). Do not put unique equipment on her, though, since it may be lost. Remove any special equipment and runes from her and her weapon. She'll need high defense for an event, similar to Pahn in the original Suikoden.
    • You will get a good chance to level up Nanami more soon, if needed.
  • Put together your battle party, of which Nanami must be included.
  • Save, then head to the command room for a scene. Select "Let's move out."

The Conquest of Matilda

  • This battle will end after three turns, so just hang back and don't let anyone die.
  • It's ok if a squad or two falls, as long as they mention a 'retreat'.
  • After the battle, agree to let Nanami join in the mission. Then select "I'm ready. Let's go."

Rockaxe

  • You'll see some scenes here. You'll hear some news about Kiba, which is normal.
  • You can leave Rockaxe and head back to HQ for any reason, should you choose to.
  • Highland Solder (The one holding a bow, specifically) can drop Recipe #36.
    • This the last of the dropped recipes. You can hand these over to Hai Yo now.
  • This dungeon is a little bit tricky with a bunch of forks, so I'll try to walk you through it.
    • Make sure you have room to pick up items.
  • Follow the path for Stone of Speed
  • At the fork after the ladder, head east first to Escape Talisman, then west.
  • At the door-or-ladder fork, head through the door first for Deep Crimson Cape and Stone of Protection. Then go down the ladder.
  • At the east-or-south fork, go east.
  • At the second door-ladder fork, go through the door.
  • At the ladder-east fork, go east first for Earth Shield, then go down the ladder.
  • At the bottom of this ladder, go south for Power Gloves, then go east.
  • You end up outside. Head into the main door to the castle.
  • Here, go all the way north, then west fo Flame Helmet.
  • Enter the two rooms below you for Gold Collar and Mega Medicine.
  • Leave these rooms to the south and contiune on. You'll fight an event battle with Matilda Knights.
  • At the fork at the top of the stairs, head east, then south, ignoring the stairs. Grab Dragon Plans #4 and Unicorn Plans #4. Then go up the stairs you passed.
  • SAVE AT THE SAVE POINT HERE. You'll have to make some decisions soon that will affect the ending you will get.
  • Head outside and fight the event battle with the knights.
  • Head inside the other door and approach the stairs for a scene.
  • With Riou and Nanami, head inside the door for a scene.
PAY ATTENTION. You basically have three dialogue choices coming up. The first two dialogue choices don't matter. However, you have to pick the top option of the third dialogue choice very quickly.

So basically, after the second dialogue choice, just mash the confirm button to make sure you pick the top option of the third dialogue choice quickly enough.

If done properly, Riou will draw his weapons and stand beside Nanami, Nanami will block three arrows but get hit with a fourth. You'll then fight Gorudo.
  • Boss: Gorudo - This is more of an event battle. He'll drop Knight Armor.
  • Watch the scenes.
  • As long as you hit the above choice quickly, Nanami was a high level, Nanami had good defense, and you have the Sign of Forgiveness ability, you are still on the path to the True Ending.

Headquarters

  • Back at HQ, talk to your allies to pass the time. Eventually Dr. Huan will come out of the room. He'll say his skills were insuffiicent, BUT he'll ask Shu to to speak with him inside. If this happens, then you are on the path to the True Ending.
True Ending Warning: This is the the key moment which basically decides which ending you will get. It may not make much sense to you now, but as long as if Dr. Huan asked Shu to speak with him inside the doctor's office, then you are good to go. You won't actually see this discussion yet, you'll just know that Huan had something to say to Shu. Make sure Huan says this, else you messed something up!
  • The next morning, put together your party, including Clive, and head to Muse.

Muse

  • [Clive's Story] Clive's story will continue here, as long as you saw the event in Radat quite a while ago. Head up Jowston Hill to the NW. You'll run into Elza.
  • You can find Recipe #35 in the Item Shop Rare Finds.
  • Talk to the clerk at the Armory for Silver Dragon Armor.
  • Head upstairs in the Rune Shop and speak with the cloaked person for Flowing Orb.
    • The Flowing Orb is an extremely useful healing rune. You probably should have gotten one in Gregminster before now, but if you didn't, put this on someone now! Flik is a good choice.
  • Talk to the man sitting down in the Tavern for Old Book Vol. 12.

Highway Village

  • Highway village is east of Rockaxe.
  • Talk to the boy left of the Inn and buy his Calf for 5000 Potch.

Rockaxe

  • Stop by the Item and Equipment shops for new items.
  • Go into the basement of the shops and check the shelves for Old Book Vol. 11.
    • This is the last one!
  • Head all the way back to where Nanami fell. Talk to the NPC just past that for Thunder Orb (an improved Lightning Orb, give it to Flik or whoever you'd like)
  • Keep going to pick up Earth Armor in the chest and Recipe #37 on the shelve.
  • Unfortunately you have to leave the long way

Headquarters

  • When ready, talk to Shu in the command room. The first choice doesnt matter, then choose "Very well..."
  • Leave the hall for a scene.
  • After all the scenes, talk to Shu on 4F for a scene.
  • Go bed to your room to rest and continue.
  • In the morning, head to the command room. Choose "Okay."
  • Watch the scenes. A faux war battle will take place, but all you can do is watch.
  • More scenes follow.

Muse-Highland Checkpoint

  • After all the scenes, talk to Apple to rearrange your units
Some suggested groupings:

Riou / Hanna / Oulan
Viktor / Tai Ho / Shin
Ridley / Shu / Chaco
Kasumi / Humphrey / Miklotov
Hauser / Yam Koo / Huan
Georg / Apple / Camus
Maximillian / Gijimu / Lo Wen
Gilbert / Permerga / Tuta
Flik / Tsai / Koyu
Teresa / Jess / Lorelei
Ayda / Freed Y / Emilia
Luc / Klaus / Annallee
Mazus / Jeane / Adlai
  • You should leave and save, then return to Muse-Highland Checkpoint.

The Conquest of L'Renouille

  • You can win if you enter the city with any units.
  • After the battle, you'll be in L'Renouille. Part together a party, including Clive, and leave.
  • Head NW of L'Renouille to Sajah

Sajah

  • [Clive's Story Conclusion] If Clive is with you, you've seen all other scenes, and the Event Timer is less than 20 hours, you'll see the last scene of Clive's Story.
  • The only other thing of interest here is the Item Shop. It has Golden Hammer, Windspun Armor, Lamb, and Horned Helmet in Rare Finds.
    • Be sure to grab the Golden Hammer.
Cook-off Note: Now's a good time to finish the Cook-offs if you haven't already.

L'Renouille

  • This is the final dungeon of the game.
  • Head north to battle Lucia
  • Boss: Lucia - You will be able to heal after this battle, so use all your strongest spells.
  • Heal up and return
  • From Lucia, head all the way east, then north. Fight the event battle with Highlander Soldiers.
  • Head west and south for Fog Robe.
  • Head north for Bolt of Wrath.
  • Return to where the previous Highlanders where defeated and head north for another fight with Highlanders.
  • Continue on, heading south for another Highlander fight.
  • Head west and follow the path until you hit a fork. Go east (and slightly north) for Fury Orb.
  • Back the fork, don't head south. Retrace your steps until you get to the Highland solders you defeated on a red carpet. Head north into the double doors. Watch for a scene. Choose either option.

Duel: Han Cunningham

  • Just like any other duel, Attack > Defend. Defend > Special. Special > Attack.

The following list is based on a classic Duel Guide from Mikael Månsson. Some of the dialogue has been updated in the Remaster, but this should be a good reference about what Han will do.

  • Han will Attack
    • Very good, boy.
    • I may be old, but I haven't lost my sword arm.
    • I can't let you past here, son.
    • You're a tough one....
    • You can't defend yourself forever.
    • You can't win like that, boy.
    • And now it's my turn.
    • Foolish boy!!!
    • Ho ho ho.... You taught him well, Genkaku my friend....
    • Unf..... Your father would have been proud to see you today.
  • Han will Defend
    • What will you do now, boy?
    • You think you can beat me, boy?
    • Let me see your power, Genkaku's son!!!
    • Well struck .... It seems I should be more careful....
    • I should have avoided that cheap little shot...
    • Try that again, boy.
    • Unf... You like to take risks, eh?
  • Han will use Special Attack
    • Yes, but can you defend against my sword!!!
    • You think my sword has lost it's bite!!!
    • Let's bury our past here, boy!!
    • You've got spirit...
    • Can you take this?
    • You've got spirit...
    • Now feel my deadly sword.
    • Watch closely, boy!!
    • You'll have to do better than that.
    • Watch and learn, boy. Here's how to wield a sword!!!

L'Renouille (Cont.)

  • Follow the path until a fork. Head east, take out the Highlanders, then take the other northern door.
  • At the next fork, head west for Highlanders. Continue for Wind Amulet and Champion's Orb. Return to the fork. and head north.
  • At the top of the stairs, head north for Stone of Power, Stone of Protection. Retrace your steps back to the four way fork after Hans Cunningham.
  • Head south for a Highlander fight. Then head west, then north. Take the left door for another Highlander fight.
  • At the next fork, go north.
  • At the top of the stairs, go north for more Highlanders. Then head west after the battle.
  • Follow the path until you are back outside. You'll fight another event fight here.
  • You'll head back inside, head east for another event battle. Continue following the path for another event battle (the doors along the path are locked).
  • You'll reach a carpeted hallway (and an autosave). Pick up the Escape Talisman in the right room.
  • Go east and south and grab Goldlets outside. Then head back north at the fork inside.
  • Grab Window Set #7 on the path, continue south.
  • At the next fork head north.
  • Save at the save point, head north for a boss. Pick either option.
  • Boss: Culgan and Seed - Seed is more vulnerable to Lightning attacks than Culgan is. Otherwise, at this point, you should have a solid party set up.
  • After the battle, pick either option. Watch the scenes.
  • Head north for another scene.
  • Final Boss: Beast Rune - I hope I don't have to give you advice at this point? Use everything you have.
  • In the next scenes, pick either option. Riou will escape the castle.

Headquarters

  • Save
  • See a scene with Flik and Viktor near the stone table.
  • Head to the command room for a scene. If you want the normal ending choose "I understand. If you want the True Ending, choose "I can't do it."
  • Teleport to Kyaro

Kyaro

  • Head to the tree you found Mukumuku way at the beginning of the game for Hunter Rune, Trio Painting, and 30 Potch.
  • Head north to Tenzen Pass for a scene

Tenzen Pass

  • At the fork, head west. The first dialogue you make doesn't matter.
  • During the duel, always choose Defend.
  • After the battle choose "There's no reason we must fight."
  • During the duel, always choose Defend.
  • After the battle, pick either option at first, but then continue to choose "I can't do that."
  • If you've met all the requirements for the good ending, Leknaat will appear.
  • After, choose either option.
  • Head down the path for one final surprise.

After the credits roll, you'll be given an option to save Clear Data. Huh, I wonder what this might be for..
