Final Fantasy VII Remake surpasses 5 million in shipments and digital sales

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake has shipped and digitally sold over five million copies worldwide. More than 2 million of those sales are stated to be digital purchases, which makes it the best selling digital release for Square Enix on a PlayStation platform.

Square Enix previously confirmed the game has sold 3.5 million copies within 3 days after launch. As a point of comparison, Final Fantasy XV sold 5 million within 3 days of launch, though it was sold on two platforms.
