Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launches for Nintendo Switch on November 20
Nintendo has revealed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which is coming to Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 20.
Just like the first Hyrule Warriors, this is a collaborative project between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo where the game is developed by the latter's Omega-Force team. However, while the first game featured a crossover of characters from prior The Legend of Zelda titles, Age of Calamity will specifically delve deeper into the Breath of the Wild universe.
Age of Calamity will tell the story of what happened around the Great Calamity that happened 100 years before Breath of the Wild. The Sheikah Slate with its Runes such as Magnesis, Stasis, and Remote Bomb will still be featured in the gameplay system. Link is not the only playable character here, as Zelda and even the four Champions—Daruk, Mipha, Revali, and Urbosa—are also confirmed playable.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity finds plenty of inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – not just in its visual style. Many characters from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are playable, including Link and Zelda. Not only will players hack and slash their way through swarms of enemies to defend Hyrule; they will also solve environmental puzzles, unlock weapons and skills, craft with gathered materials, visit shops to obtain items and use the power of the Sheikah Slate, which fans will recognise from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
