Nioh 2: Darkness in the Capital DLC out now, launch trailer published
Koei Tecmo has today released the second DLC pack for Nioh 2, titled Darkness in the Capital. The DLC expands the post-game story where the protagonist Hide travels in time right in the middle of Japan's Heian era, while also adding new weapons, yokai monsters, Guardian Spirits, and a new difficulty level among others.
Other than Abe no Seimei, Darkness in the Capital also features a female Minamoto no Yorimitsu as a key character. Yorimitsu is similar to how Hide and Tokichiro combined their names to Hideyoshi; the female warrior has a younger brother who is working as a politician under the same name as her. Abe no Seimei's rival Ashiya Doman will also make an appearance, and Yorimitsu's subordinate Sakata Kintoki also returns in his own living era.
This DLC adds Fists as a new weapon type that lets the user unleash some martial arts. It also adds a new difficulty level in Dream of the Wise, while bringing back the Ethereal rarity level with it. In the DLC launch trailer that you can watch right below, you may even spot a certain ninja performing the Izuna Drop. You will be able to fight Ren Hayabusa, the Heian-era ancestor of Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa, with this DLC installed.
Another free title update is also available for everyone regardless of the DLC purchase. It adds a new Shrine menu where players can sacrifice an accessory to obtain a Stone of Penance that will raise enemy strength levels but also improve the drop rates of Divine rarity equipment—as well as Ethereal with the DLC. The update also adds more avatar customization parts, along with two new joinable clans.
Nioh 2 is currently available worldwide on PlayStation 4. This DLC release is the second out of a total of three DLC packs included in the season pass; the first one being The Tengu's Disciple which released on July 30. Koei Tecmo is planning to reveal more new information about this game on November 13.
