SaGa Frontier Remastered announced for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mobile Devices
Square Enix has announced SaGa Frontier Remastered for PlayStation 4 (playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility), Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android, set to release in Summer 2021. This re-release has updated graphics, events, and cutscenes, alongside other enhancements. Notably, the remaster adds an eighth character storyline, Fuse, to the existing seven.
Famitsu also notes that content cut from Asellus' route in the original will also be implemented in the remaster. Other fixes to be made have not been stated.
SaGa Frontier originally released in 1997 for the PlayStation and at the time featured seven different playable characters each with their own story. Like some other games in the SaGa franchise, SaGa Frontier has a largely non-linear storyline path, where the chosen character can travel almost freely to any of the game's various regions and each region exhibits its own culture and technology. Additional characters and storylines were originally planned to be included in SaGa Frontier, but they were ultimately cut from the cut due to production circumstances.
