Monster Hunter Rise to add Chameleos and more monsters with post-release updates
Capcom has published even more information on Monster Hunter Rise at today's Monster Hunter Digital Event showcase. Following last month's Nintendo Direct, the stream reveals even more monsters that will be available in the new game. Two of the series' popular monsters, Nargacuga and Zinogre, will also appear in Rise at launch.
The stream also made some recaps on the game information. Rise will come with 5 normal areas: Shrine Ruins, Flooded Forest, Frost Islands, Sandy Plains, and Lava Caverns. It also explained the new Rampage quests, where hunters will need to defend the village from being invaded by a multiple-monster onslaught while being occasionally helped by ally NPCs. The quest system will also be more similar to pre-World games, where there is a separate questline exclusively aimed for single-player.
Monster Hunter Rise will also receive free post-release updates that add even more monsters. The first such update, coming in late April, will bring back Chameleos along with several other monsters. This pattern is not unheard of before, as Capcom also did a similar thing to Monster Hunter World with a series of free content updates that started with Deviljho.
Capcom will also bring back the previously-limited demo version on March 11 with an update that adds a difficult quest against the flagship monster Magnamalo. This update will also apply to those who have owned the previous demo, and it will even reset the play limit counter as well.
