Tales of Arise launches on September 10 with additional PS5 and Xbox Series X releases
Bandai Namco has revealed new information on Tales of Arise exclusively through Famitsu in Japan and IGN in the West. It will be released on September 9 in Japan and September 10 globally. The game is also confirmed coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at the same time.
This announcement also revealed two new party characters. Rinwell (voiced in Japanese by Sayuri Hara) is the girl who collapsed in front of Alphen and Shionne at the TGS 2019 trailer. She fights with magic and has a little companion pet known as Hootle. Law (voiced in Japanese by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) is a martial artist who was born in Dahna but managed to work at a police organization in the neighboring planet Rena.
Famitsu also published a 7-minute long gameplay trailer, which shows the battle system with new features like Boost Attack and Boost Strike. Meanwhile, IGN posted a short environment trailer. The PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC versions will also have an additional option where players choose to prioritize Performance (60 fps frame rate) or Graphics (4K resolution).

Initially revealed at the Xbox conference in E3 2019, Arise was originally slated for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2020. However, a sudden silence in 2020—partly caused by the pandemic—made the game end up with an indefinite delay. In December 2020, the game's producer Yusuke Tomizawa promised to release new information for Arise in 2021—and he has surely delivered that promise right now. The team had also previously published a new trailer at the Tales of Festival held in March.
Tales of Arise will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. The console releases will be available earlier in Japan on September 9. The global release and the PC version will follow a day later on September 10.
