Legend of Mana - The Teardrop Crystal anime announced; will air worldwide

Alongside announcements of a mobile port for the Trials of Mana remake and a new mobile entry in Echoes of Mana, Square Enix also announced that an anime adaptation of Legend of Mana is in the works. The official website is here.

Titled Legend of Mana - The Teardrop Crystal, there are not too many details about this production yet, such as when it is expected to air. However, we do know the anime is in production with Warner Bros. Japan LLC, Graphinica, Inc., and Yokohama Animation Lab, who also created the new animated Legend of Mana opening for the recently released remaster. We also know the anime is planned to air worldwide.

Based on the 'The Teardrop Crystal' subtitle, those familiar with the game can deduce that the anime will likely follow the game's Jumi storyline. This is easily the most in-depth and emotional storyline found among the game's multiple plot threads, so it seems the most well-suited for an anime adaptation.

The anime key artwork and a comment from Mana series producer Masaru Oyamada can be found below. For more, you can check out our review of the re-release.

When we received a proposal for the anime adaptation, we still had not made or even considered the HD remaster of Legend of Mana.
Since they went through the trouble, I attended the meeting with a lighthearted feeling. But then Mr. Yawata from Warner Bros. Japan said "I really want to do it with LOM no matter what" with powerful words and feelings. The love is heavy.
Ah, in order to answer to this, I had to quickly make the game. That's pretty much the details on how we began [working on] the remaster.
To all fans of LOM, please rest assured.
The people involved with this anime are, without any doubt, adults who still have feelings and affections (on LOM).
