2K and Firaxis Games announce tactical RPG Marvel's Midnight Suns, set to release in March 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC
During the Gamescom Opening Night Live stream, 2K and Firaxis Games (XCOM series) revealed the debut cinematic trailer for Marvel's Midnight Suns, a tactical RPG set to release in March 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic).
According to reporting by Polygon, thirteen playable Marvel characters will be available (including a customizable protagonist), with confirmed characters including Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Blade, Nico Minoru, Magik, Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider, and Wolverine. Lead game designer Jake Solomon also states that Marvel's Midnight Suns shares 'zero mechanics' with XCOM and will not include components like permadeath.
The main character of Marvel's Midnight Suns is known as The Hunter, acting as the player character. The Hunter will be will be customizable in terms of both powers and appearance, with over 40 different superpowers available.
PCGamer reports that The Hunter can bond with the various Marvel characters at base, give them gifts, and become friends. Additionally, the game is not considered to be a war simulation game like XCOM, but a single-player RPG that tells one story.

Pushed to the brink, the Avengers desperately look to fight fire with Hellfire by enlisting the help of the Midnight Suns – Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik, and Ghost Rider – young heroes with powers deeply rooted in the supernatural, formed to prevent the very prophecy Lilith aims to fulfill. Together, they resurrect an ancient warrior – the Hunter, Lilith’s forsaken child and the only hero known to have ever defeated her.

During today’s announcement at gamescom: Opening Night Live, 2K debuted a stunning cinematic trailer featuring the dramatic resurrection of the Hunter – the first customizable original hero in the Marvel Universe.
