Elden Ring delayed to February 25, 2022; Closed Network Test Announced
Bandai Namco is FromSoftware have announced that Elden Ring has been delayed to February 25, 2022. The action RPG was originally set to release on January 21, 2022. The reason for the month-long delay is cited as extra development time needed for 'final adjustments' due to the game's depth & degree of freedom.
Additionally, Bandai Namco has announced that players can register to play the early portions of the game in a Closed Network Test taking place from November 12 through November 15. Players can register to take part at www.eldenring.com/cnt before November 1.
The Closed Network Test and delay announcement from Bandai Namco can be seen below. Elden Ring is set to release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Selected fans will be able to experience the opening hours of the long-awaited title to get a hands-on glimpse at what the full game will have to offer while assisting the development team in testing the game’s online servers ahead of its release date.
The depth of the game and the degree of freedom in strategy exceeded the initial expectations, hence it has been decided to extend the development time for final adjustments thus moving the release date to February 25, 2022.
The Elden Ring Closed Network Test will be playable throughout the weekend of November 12-15th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S during the following time periods:
- November 12: 12:00 to 15:00 CET
- November 13: 4:00 to 7:00 CET
- November 13: 20:00 to 23:00 CET
- November 14: 12:00 to 15:00 CET
- November 15: 4:00 to 7:00 CET
Players will need to register on www.eldenring.com/cnt for a chance to participate to the Closed Network Test. The game will allow for cross-play multiplayer (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 players will be able to play together, same for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. PlayStation players will not be able to play with Xbox players).
