NIS America announces Crystar for Nintendo Switch, set to release in Spring 2022
NIS America and FuRyu have announced that action RPG Crystar will release for Nintendo Switch on February 24 in Japan, followed by a launch in Spring 2022 in North America & Europe.
Developed by FuRyu and Gemdrops, Crystar was originally released in October 2018 in Japan for Playstation 4, followed by a localized release in the west in August 2019 for PS4 and PC. The game follows a young girl named Rei, who enters a mysterious world named Purgatory in order to revive her lost sister.
Lucas reviewed the original release at launch, though he didn't come away from the game with an overly positive experience, citing stiff combat and tedious gameplay design.
The announcement trailer from NIS America can be found below. The official website is here. A Limited Edition is available on NIS America's online store for $89.99.
Rei and Mirai are sisters suddenly dragged into a mysterious world known as Purgatory. Rei discovers a hidden power allowing her to fight against the otherworldly monsters, but loses control and accidentally kills her sister Mirai. Crystar tells the story of Rei's journey to atone and battle to bring Mirai back to life. This action RPG showcases its unique narrative through the use of four playable characters, each with their own special Guardian, as well as the use of the Tear Gauge and Torments.
It is with tears shed that you will revive the dead.
