Publisher Frontier Foundry and developer Complex Games have released the first developer diary video for Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, detailing tactical combat, customization, skills, equipment, and more.
The dev diary, titled 'Beyond the Gate', and description can be found below via Frontier Foundry.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is set to release for PC (Steam) in 2022. For more information, you can check out the announcement trailer from June 2021.
The first in a three-part video series, “Episode 1 - Beyond the Gate” offers players an overview on Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters’ core gameplay mechanics, presented by Creative Director Noah Decter-Jackson. Joined by Art Director Jonas Van Niekerk and Lead Designer Peter Schnabl, the Complex Games team present players with an introduction to the game’s two gameplay layers; the first, Tactical Combat, provides total control on an ever-changing battlefield, from customising and commanding your strike force on the ground, to utilising environmental obstacles and hazards. The second, Strategic Management, covers the management and repairs of the squad’s battle cruiser, ‘The Baleful Edict’, as well as overseeing the galaxy-wide battle against the Bloom.
The first developer diary touches upon some of the reasons why players should be excited to take on this challenge as the Grey Knights, from an immersive narrative penned by legendary Black Library author Aaron Dembski-Bowden, to some unique changes to the traditional turn-based genre format in order to better suit the overwhelming power and elite training regime of Space Marine Chapter 666.
Complex Games also explore the legacy of the ‘Chaos Gate’ setting, a key source of inspiration for the developers and an exciting direction for fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
With the first seeds of The Bloom lingering in the air, players can expect to learn more about the corrupting warp-spawn who await with the arrival of part two in our series, which lurks ominously in the shadows, awaiting the call of Nurgle.
