Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp Delayed to 2022
This morning, Nintendo announced that Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp will be pushed back from its original December 3 release date to a Spring 2022 release window. Nintendo cited a need for, "a little more fine tuning", before they feel comfortable releasing the game. This title contains remakes of the original Advance Wars, as well as its sequel, Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. It is being developed by WayForward, the company behind the famous Shantae series.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp was first announced at E3 2021 during Nintendo's Nintendo Direct showcase. It features new 3D models for its characters and units as opposed to the original games' pixel sprite style. Up until the announcement of this title, the series had been dormant for over a decade, with the last release being Advance Wars: Days of Ruin on the Nintendo DS in 2008. The original Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising were well-received, with a 92 and 89 Metacritic score respectively.
As of right now, Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp is being released in NA and PAL regions, with no current plan to release the game in Japan. This is somewhat similar to the original release of the first Advance Wars, as Japan didn't see a release of that game until 2004, three years after the game originally came out first in North America.
