It's a Wonderful World Scans
These new scans from a Japanese feature on "It's a Wonderful World," the new Nintendo DS RPG from the makers of Kingdom Hearts reveals some interesting new information.
The story follows young Neku Sakuraba. One day, he finds out about the enigmatic organisation by the name of 'Shinigami' who threaten him - he must do as they ask, or he will be killed. He has seven days to complete his task, and if he fails he would cease to exist.
In an interesting twist of the classic RPG style of talking to people to get information, you instead use Neku's newfound psychic abilities - simply tap a person on the DS' touch screen to read their thoughts and learn information and clues.
The battles in the game will take place on two screens. According to this scan, arrows on the top screen will show the various courses of action you can take - choosing one will determine what appears on your cards. If you line up three cards with the same symbol, you will unlock a special attack - think Tifa's Limit Breaks in FFVII. While this happens, the touch screen will be used to fight the enemies on the lower screen, requiring you to hack and slash at them.
During Boss Fights the top screen will have a larger bearing on the bottom than normally. Killing enemies on the top screen may make the main boss enemy on the lower screen weaker, for example. As in most RPGs, each character will have their own abilities and their own strengths and weaknesses. Your attacks can be comboed (like Kingdom Hearts,) making them more powerful.
Also, drawing specific shapes on the bottom screen will unleash special attacks such as magic and other powerful titles.
The game is due out in Japan sometime in 2007 - we'll bring you more information and a full review when a release is announced.
