Square Enix shows off gameplay for Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest - The Adventure of Dai
Square Enix today held a Dragon Quest - The Adventure of Dai GAME PROJECT 2021 Winter Special Edition live stream, which primarily focused on the mobile game Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds and an arcade game Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Xross Blade. However, Square Enix ended the stream showing a few minutes of gameplay for upcoming console RPG Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest - The Adventure of Dai.
The new footage shows about two-and-a-half minutes of gameplay, with Dai facing off against Crocodine, an early antagonist. Square Enix also revealed that Infinity Strash does not have a set release window or specified console platforms, but producer Ryutaro Ichimura states that development is progressing, with current improvements focused on graphical touch-ups.
For those not aware, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai is a classic manga and anime series based on Dragon Quest. A new revival anime is currently airing in Japan, and three new game projects have been coordinated alongside: a recently-released mobile game (A Hero's Bonds), an arcade game in Japan (Xross Blade), and an upcoming console RPG (Infinity Strash).
Infinity Strash was originally announced in May 2020 (along with the mobile and arcade games), which then received some new screenshots in May 2021, but otherwise not much has been seen since its announcement. Infinity Strash also has not officially been confirmed for English localization, unlike other upcoming Dragon Quest titles such as Dragon Quest Treasures and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.
