New Dragon Quest X Details Revealed

Japanese game website Game Memo is reporting some new tidbits on gameplay and story elements from Square Enix's upcoming Wii and WiiU MMORPG Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online.

The information states that the story of the game will actually be quite sizable, but outside of the standard story there'll be a large number of gameplay options for players. Each of the five races in the game has their own exclusive quests, so players will be able to replay the game as a different race and have a different experience.

The Inn will have a character who acts as an assistant or concierge, and they'll act as a real-time bulletin board giving you information about live events in the world of Dragon Quest X.

In-game messaging, meanwhile, will be handled through a 'post office' where letters can be sent to other players without meeting face-to-face.

You'll start the game story in a village where your character, a human, lives with your sibling. You're able to create your sibling in the character creator. An event in the early stages of the game will turn your human character into one of the five playable races.

After that you'll be let loose upon the world, which Game Memo say is larger than that of Dragon Quest VIII. Finally, they also state that unlike most MMOs, Dragon Quest X will have a proper 'ending' and final boss, though there'll be plenty of 'post game' content to tackle after that has been defeated.

Square Enix are keeping quiet, but we think Dragon Quest X is set to launch in Japan at some point in 2012 for Nintendo Wii. A WiiU version with enhanced graphics will follow later.
