Wada: Final Fantasy XIV left the Final Fantasy brand "greatly damaged"
Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada took to the stage at a Press Conference in Japan today to answer major investor questions regarding the company's two big online ventues, Dragon Quest X and Final Fantasy XIV.
Speaking about the troubled launch of Final Fantasy XIV, Wada was blunt and honest, telling the gathered press "The Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged."
Final Fantasy XIV's subscription fees were abolished shortly after launch on an indefinite basis until the game was deemed suitable to be worth them once again. Since then original Producer Hiromichi Tanaka was given the boot and replaced and the team has been working hard on fixes for the game.
"We'll continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released," Wada said. It seems the PS3 version wasn't mentioned at all during the conference.
