Pokemon Scarlet and Violet coming to Switch worldwide in Late 2022
At the end of the February 2022 Pokemon Presents, The Pokemon Company revealed the newest mainline titles in the Pokemon series. Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will be available worldwide on the Nintendo Switch.
The English trailers showed Late 2022 as a release window for the games, while the Japanese version showed Winter 2022 instead. Nevertheless, the games will be released simultaneously worldwide, as with other recent major Pokemon titles like Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
While The Pokemon Company did not directly mention a new generation in the reveal trailer, Scarlet & Violet does have all the ingredients needed for a new mainline generation. The games will have a new set of three starter Pokemon with Grass, Fire, and Water types. They will also take place in a new region that is seemingly based on the Iberian peninsula.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet
Developed by GAME FREAK inc., Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet take a new evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series. Trainers can explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness. Pokémon can be seen everywhere in this wide-open world—in the skies, in the sea, and on the streets.
As one of the main characters, Trainers will jump into the world of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet to begin their adventure, where they will have a different outfit depending on which game they are playing. Trainers will then choose either Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon, Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon, or Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon to be their first partner Pokémon before setting off on their journey.
