Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja reveal Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, coming early 2023

At the June 2022 Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja revealed a new game titled Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The official trailer description confirmed that Wo Long will take place in China's Later Han Dynasty and Three Kingdoms periods with additional dark fantasy elements, such as demonic creatures.

When Kou Shibusawa celebrated the 40th anniversary of his gaming industry career in 2021, the Koei Tecmo head revealed that he is working with Team Ninja to produce a new action game based on the Chinese Three Kingdoms era. He also made a teaser for people to expect a similar thing to what the two groups had made before. Team Ninja and Kou Shibusawa's development team had previously collaborated for the Nioh series, which took place in the Japanese Sengoku (Warring States) era and had two entries released for PlayStation 4 and PC.

As of this writing, Koei Tecmo has yet to publish their own website and trailer for the game, so it's still unknown whether Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will come to more platforms other than Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC. Koei Tecmo has announced via press release that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam) in 2023. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass for console and PC.

Koei Tecmo America and famed developer Team NINJA (Nioh, Ninja Gaiden), are proud to reveal the first details about its epic new supernatural Three Kingdoms thriller, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Currently in development for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and on PC via Windows and Steam, the game is scheduled to release in early 2023 and will be available day one to Game Pass subscribers on both Xbox and Windows PC.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty follows the dramatic, action-packed story of a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms. Players fight off deadly creatures and enemy soldiers using swordplay based on the Chinese martial arts, attempting to overcome the odds by awakening the true power from within.

A joint creation by Team NINJA producers Fumihiko Yasuda (Nioh) and Masaaki Yamagiwa (Bloodborne), game features include:

1. Demons in the Kingdom - A dark fantasy set during the chaotic Three Kingdoms period, the narrative vividly tells the tale of a militia soldier’s strenuous fight for survival during a Later Han Dynasty infested with demons. It’s madness in the Three Kingdoms like never before!
