CyberConnect2 announces Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2
CyberConnect2 has officially announced that Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is in production. Hiroshi Matsuyama, CEO of CyberConnect2, mentioned that the sequel would be announced in July back in March to Famitsu magazine and that the Fuga series is planned to be a trilogy.
The Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 unveil initially occurred at Japan Expo 2022 in Paris and was publicly announced later. For now, no release dates or platforms have been shared but more news is to come on July 28 during the Fuga: Melodies of Steel 1st Anniversary Special Broadcast livestream. The official website for the title is already up as well.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel was pitched as the first title of CyberConnect2's planned "Trilogy of Vengeance" games all the way back in early 2018. These trio of games were CyberConnect2's roadmap to developing and publishing their own games all in-house, with Fuga: Melodies of Steel as the studio's maiden voyage with Tokyo Ogre Gate and Cecile eventually following it.
Although the Fuga series is now planned as a trilogy and updates on the other two Trilogy of Vengeance titles have been sparse, Matsuyama mentioned to Famitsu that Tokyo Ogre Gate and Cecile are running on real hardware at CyberConnect2, but are not ready to show them off quite yet.
CyberConnect2 has also released a demo for the first Fuga: Melodies of Steel on all the platforms it released on, meaning it's available on all modern platforms. It allows players to play up through chapter 3 of the game and people who buy the full game can transfer their demo progress over onto it.
The first Fuga: Melodies of Steel was released on July 29, 2021 and James Galizio praised the title in his review of it on RPG Site.
