Chrono Trigger Traveling to the iPhone

Square Enix’s classic RPG is heading straight for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Released in 1995 for Super Nintendo, Chrono Trigger is considered to be one of the ground breaking RPG’s of its time. For those of you who didn’t rebuy Chrono Trigger already on the PlayStation, Nintendo DS, or the Wii Virtual Console, now’s your chance to play this time-traveling classic.

A very piquant aspect of their battle system involves combining the powers of the main character and his allies to deliver devastating blows to their enemies. These are known as double and triple techs. To this day, I’m still quite befuddled as to why other many RPG’s don’t use this epic mechanic.

Square Enix was vague about the release date, stating that it will be available for download “before the end of December.” Be sure to check out the App Store during break if you’re in the mood for some RPG nostalgia.
