Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuts on September 13th
Studio Trigger and CD Projekt have revealed the premiere date for the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime collaboration, alongside a new "NSFW" trailer intended for mature audiences only, commemorating its upcoming launch.
Edgerunners tells an additional story within CD Projekt's adaptation of the Cyberpunk universe; of how the street kid David chooses to become a mercenary known as an edgerunner - alongside another edgerunner, Lucy. Cyberpunk: Edgerunner is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 13th, with all 10 episodes of the series debuting at the same time.
The new trailer (again, keep in mind it's more than a little brutal!), and its description, have been embedded below, via CD Projekt. You can find the official website for the series here.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells the story of David Martinez, a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, David decides to take control of his own destiny by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
The acclaimed Japanese animation company Studio Trigger collaborated with CD PROJEKT RED to bring the story to life, with Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) directing the show. Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) is the chief character designer as well as executive animation director. Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions ‘The Elder’) and Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series) wrote the screenplay based on the story provided by CD PROJEKT RED. The original score is composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).
