Like a Dragon 8 is coming in 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC

Sega and RGG Studio have officially revealed the next mainline Ryu ga Gotoku game with Like a Dragon 8 at RGG Summit 2022. The series seems to leaving the Yakuza name behind and adopting the 'Like a Dragon' moniker moving forward. It will be launching on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam, Windows). 

The trailer begins with a silhouette of Yakuza: Like a Dragon protagonist Ichiban Kasuga walking down Kamurocho with several overlapping voice clips accompanying him. A few seconds later, a mysterious second silhouette joins him. It reveals both silhouettes later and shows Ichiban with the original Yakuza series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu rocking a new silver hairstyle.

RGG Studio shared a few comments on Like a Dragon 8 despite its far-off release. It will have Kiryu and Ichiban serve as its dual protagonists and the title will continue being a turn-based RPG. The focus will be on the cooperation and interaction between characters, which was established in Yakuza: Like a Dragon; RGG Studio felt that remaining as a RPG would further establish that vision.
