Elden Ring patch update 1.07.1 is out now, offering an emergency nerf
Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware have released the latest patch update for Elden Ring - a hotfix update released in the wake of a recent patch. Since it's a hotfix, this update piggybacks off the previous version number - making it patch update version 1.07.1.
The new patch is available across all Elden Ring platforms - PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, and PC via Steam. As per the official patch notes, here's the major changes:
- Ash of War - Endure: Shortened effect duration. Adjustments made in patch 1.07 had a greater impact on the game balance than expected.
- Incantation - Inescapable Frenzy: Fixed a bug where the FP consumption was not properly reduced in patch 1.07.
These two changes cover the tweaks for this patch The Endure Ash of War had quickly been elevated to the status as an over-powered, balance-busting ability in the wake of its adjustments in patch 1.07. This hotfix will bump it back down in the meta significantly.
The patch notes also reveal that there was an error in the patch notes for the previous version of patch 1.07, released just a short while ago. Specifically, there are two elements of that patch which weren't as initially presented:
- The incantation Flame of the Fell God and Gurranq's Beast Claw cannot be charged; patch notes were edited accordingly.
- The incantation Black Blade is currently missing its follow up attack when cast from the left hand. This issue will be corrected in a future update.
Elden Ring continues to be tweaked and changed - and which each patch, enterprising dataminers continue to uncover small tweaks and pieces of data that are suggestive of upcoming downloadable content for the Game of the Year contender. If any more crops up in this update, we'll be sure to report it. In the meantime, if you're jumping back into The Lands Between, be sure to check out our various Elden Ring guides.
