Compile Heart announces Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch
Compile Heart has announced Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution, set to release in Japan on August 10 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game will be featured in this week's issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine, along with an interview with the key staff of the game.
Tsunako is the lead character designer for the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, and GameMaker R:Evolution marks the first time in five years that she has created a new character for the franchise.
GameMaker R:Evolution is described as a spin-off entry featuring Adult Neptune in a "Warring States" - like era where the three main game developer nations are competing with each other. Adult Neptune - an interdimensional traveler - appears in the world and is asked by the three "failure goddesses" to become their president. These goddesses are named Pipi, Jaga, and Lideo, seemingly named after the consoles Apple Pippin, Jaguar, and 3-DO.
Other details about the game are sparse, but it is stated to include a 4-character combat system, dungeon exploration elements, game studio management sections, and even some motorcycle racing. In the management component, players can develop "discs" that can improve playable characters' abilities and skills. As you grow your company, you can create improved discs with better skills and attributes.
