Atlas Fallen release date delayed to August 2023
Developer Deck13's open-world action RPG Atlas Fallen has fallen back a few months. Originally slated to hit PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 on May 16, 2023, the Atlas Fallen release date is now set for August 10, 2023.
Deck13 and publisher Focus Entertainment delivered the news via a Tweet on the official Focus Entertainment Twitter account. In the message, Deck13 and Focus thanked fans and critics for their support, both via enthusiastic reactions to the game's teasers and from previews at the recent PAX East convention. Citing a need to "give the game some extra time", Deck13 announced the new release date and apologized for delivering "disappointing news." It promised to come back in early Summer 2023 to share new updates, gameplay footage, and a look at "drop-in co-op gameplay".
In a follow-up Tweet, Deck13 also confirmed that Atlas Fallen will also have a full German-language voiceover option at release.
Announced in August 2022, Atlas Fallen is a departure from Deck13's The Surge titles. Players are on a quest through a timeless desert to "liberate mankind from the oppression of the gods". The player character is equipped with a special shapeshifting gauntlet weapon. The gauntlet can transform into different shapes between attacks, taking on the shapes of axes, hammers, daggers, whips, and other weapons. The combat system also incorporates a "momentum" mechanic that transforms the available move sets as battles heat up. Momentum can be a double-edged sword, though, as players will take more damage when fighting at higher momentum tiers, increasing the risk in exchange for powerful moves. The game supports drop-in cooperative play, as well.
Atlas Fallen is in development, and will arrive on the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 10, 2023. Check out RPG Site's preview of the game at this link.
