Next State of Play focuses on Final Fantasy XVI gameplay footage
In case there was still someone unsure about whether or not they wanted to purchase Final Fantasy XVI, Sony plans to do some extra convincing. The next PlayStation State of Play livestream event will be focused on the game, and reveal at least 20 minutes of gameplay footage from it. The broadcast will kick off on April 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM Pacific Time (5:00 PM Eastern Time, 11:00 PM CEST, and 6:00 AM April 14 Japan Time). The footage will go out via the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels.
Final Fantasy XVI was first officially announced for PS5 during the 2020 PlayStation 5 showcase event. At the moment the game is officially announced only for the PS5. Producer Naoki Yoshida has generally played coy when asked about a PC version. He's also cautioned fans against assuming a PC version of the game, however likely it seems to be, will arrive very soon after the PS5 release date on June 22, 2023.
That said, a PC version of Final Fantasy XVI is more likely than not. Square Enix has been fairly consistent about putting out major titles on PC. Final Fantasy XV, as well as Final Fantasy VII Remake, both appeared on PC within two years of their console releases.
