See the Sorcerer's spells at work in a new Diablo IV character trailer
Blizzard has released a new short preview trailer for another of the Diablo IV playable classes: The Sorcerer is a returning class from the first Diablo game, and brings with it some new adjustments to bring it up to parity with spellcasting archetypes in later titles.
Check out the Diablo IV Sorcerer trailer below.
A representative of the archetypal spell-slinging play style present in all Diablo games to date, the Sorcerer emphasizes wide-ranging area-of-effect spells that devastate large groups of enemies. Sorcerers can also wield spells that channel elemental forces, assailing foes with fire, cold, and lightning. Their unique class mechanic in Diablo IV is Enchantment. Enchantment allows a Sorcerer to employ unused skills to enhance their active skills. For example, slotting the Meteor spell as an Enchantment will allow uses of that skill to randomly summon meteors to impact nearby enemies.
Though the "Sorcerer" class first appeared in Diablo I, Diablo II also saw a "Sorceress" class, which was at the time treated as a distinct discipline. In Diablo lore, Sorcerers came from the Vizjerei Clan, while Sorceresses came from the all-female Zann Esu Clan. For Diablo IV, though, the two concepts appear to have been united under a single class.
Diablo IV launches on June 6, 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Check out what Blizzard had to say about the Rogue, another returning Diablo I class.
