Genshin Impact cooking video shows off an almond tofu preparation
Genshin Impact developer HoYoVerse is celebrating the birthday of Xiao, one of the game's most popular characters. To commemorate the occasion it dedicated the latest episode of its Genshin Impact "Gourmet Tour" series to preparing the Vigilant Yaksha's favorite dish: Almond Tofu.
Check out the video below.
The video uses footage of a real chef dressed in Genshin Impact cosplay preparing samples of the dishes, which can also be found, prepared, and consumed in-game. As the nation of Liyue's culture and cuisine is based on China's, the recipes line up fairly closely. Besides the Almond Tofu, the chef also prepares Lotus Flower Crisp, another "Liyue" dish.
The preparation itself is rather involved, taking a whole day to produce the initial items. Syrup is made from dried osmanthus flower petals, and multicolored dough balls surrounding lotus paste need to be chilled overnight. Similarly, peeled and boiled almonds are soaked in milk, then ground down to produce "almond dew" that is used to flavor the blocks of tofu. Meanwhile, the dough balls are cut in specific ways, then deep-fried in oil. The cuts then expand to outward and take the appearance of a lotus flower in bloom.
Genshin Impact is available on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and PS5. Its 3.6 content update is live now. Other episodes of the Gourmet Tour series include preparations of Chili-Mince Cornbread Buns, Golden Shrimp Balls, and Slow-Cooked Bamboo Shoot Soup.
