Final Fantasy XIV Moogle Treasure Trove event returns before patch 6.4
Eorzea might be seen as a land of creeping mendacity by some, but mendacity shall soon be profitable. Square Enix has announced that its periodic Final Fantasy XIV Moogle Treasure Trove event will return next week, and run until the late May 2023 debut of patch 6.4. The kick-off day is April 24, 2023 at 08:00 AM GMT, and is open to all Final Fantasy XIV players.
For those unfamiliar with the event, Moogle Treasure Trove is a semi-regular limited-time event that typically runs in the weeks prior to the launch of a new major patch. During the duration of the event, a selection of playable Duties will be marked in the Duty Finder menu with a special Moogle icon. Playing those duties will award varying amounts of Irregular Tomestones of Mendacity. These Irregular Tomestones are a special variant of the familiar Final Fantasy XIV Tomestone currencies used to buy high-end items and gear from certain vendors. In this case, Irregular Tomestones can be handed off at Itinerant Moogle vendors (with one located in each major city-state). The Tomestones can be traded for a range of prizes not usually available easily, including mounts, gear, emotes, minions, and furniture.
The duties that need playing to earn Irregular Tomestones span a wide range of activities ranging from Trials to Raids to Dungeons and PVP. Players will be able to earn Tomestones while they farm for NieR-themed gear items in the NieR Automata Alliance Raid series (The Copied Factory, The Puppets' Bunker, and the Tower at Paradigm's Breach). They'll also be able to do so from the Alexander Normal Raid series introduced in Heavensward, and a number of dungeons from A Realm Reborn. Lastly, the Level 80 "Weapon" Trials - The Cinder Drift, Castrum Marinum, and The Cloud Deck - will award Tomestones for tackling FFXIV's incarnations of the famed Final Fantasy VII secret bosses, Diamond Weapon, Ruby Weapon, and Emerald Weapon.
The three newest prizes available from the Moogle Treasure Trove event are the Megalotragus Mount, the Gyr Abanian Plait hairstyle, and Porxie Earrings. The Megalotragus Mount is normally only available to trade for Skybuilders' Scrip obtained from crafting and gathering missions related to Ishgard's Firmament area. The Gyr Abanian Plait hairstyle is normally only available from the Heaven-on-High Deep Dungeon activity. It was originally added as a hairstyle design contest winner. The Porxie Earrings are exclusive items, and mimic the look of the Porxies, special fey pigs introduced in Shadowbringers. Other notable items include a Magitek Predator mount based on the Magitek Armor from Final Fantasy VI, a manual to unlock the "Insist" emote, and an Orchestrion Roll unlocking the iconic song "A Long Fall".
The Final Fantasy XIV Moogle Treasure Trove event runs from April 24, 2023, and concludes with the debut of patch 6.4 in late May 2023. The game is available on PS4, PS5, and PC.
