Star Trek Resurgence will feature Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker

Narrative adventure game Star Trek Resurgence is an original story set in the timeline of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but will still feature several iconic characters. One of them is William T. Riker, who, according to a post on StarTrek.com, will be played by Riker's original actor, Jonathan Frakes.

According to Dan Martin and Andrew Grant, who are writers at developer Dramatic Labs working on Resurgence, having Commander Riker - or rather, Captain Riker - on board was a "natural fit" for the story. Riker played a prominent role in the Next Generation episode "The Last Outpost", which features the ruins of the ancient Tkon Empire, and one of its guardians, Portal 63. With the Tkon once again making an appearance in Resurgence, Riker's direct experience with its remnants will be relevant to the game's plot.

Dramatic Labs also confirmed that Spock, who was announced as appearing in the game previously, will be played by voice actor Piotr Michael. Michael has played characters like Phineas Welles in The Outer Worlds, and Balderich in the Overwatch animated short Honor and Glory. Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock in the original Star Trek series and films, The Next Generation, and in the rebooted Star Trek films, died in 2015.

Star Trek Resurgence releases for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store on May 23, 2023.
