Sega and RGG Studio schedule RGG Summit Summer 2023 for June 16, 2023
Sega and Like A Dragon (a.k.a. Yakuza) series developers RGG Studio have announced that the next RGG Summit live-streaming event will occur in mid-June 2023. According to the press release, the official schedule is set for Friday, June 16, 2023, at 12:00 Japan time. It'll be viewable on Japanese video service NicoNico and YouTube.
Sega didn't specify what it planned for the RGG Summit, but RGG Studio is actively developing two new Like A Dragon titles: Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like A Dragon 8. Both games were revealed during the 2022 RGG Summit.
Like A Dragon Gaiden is set for release in 2023. It'll star Kazuma Kiryu, the titular "man who erased his name". It's said to be smaller in scale compared with a main series Like A Dragon title and is focused on showing what happened to Kiryu after the events Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.
Like A Dragon 8 is set for release sometime in 2024, and little about it is known other than the fact that it'll involve Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist of Yakuza: Like A Dragon (a.k.a. Yakuza 7), as well as feature the return of Kazuma Kiryu, sporting a new hairstyle after events detailed in Like A Dragon Gaiden.
Like A Dragon Gaiden and Like A Dragon 8 are in development for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. RGG Studio's latest release is Like A Dragon: Ishin! a remake of 2014's Japan-exclusive Yakuza Ishin spin-off.
