Atlus reveals Metaphor: ReFantazio for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, set to launch in 2024
During the June 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus has revealed Metaphor: ReFantazio, a new RPG from the creative staff behind Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. It is currently announced to release for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC in 2024.
Once known under the name Project Re Fantasy, details on the newly-revealed game are forthcoming, but what we know so far is that the game is developed by Studio Zero, with key staff including director Katsura Hashino, character art by Shigenori Soejima, and music by Shoji Meguro - all veterans of the Persona franchise. The game's tagline is "Enter the mirror of reality… into the pinnacle of fantasy."
From the trailer, while the visual style is quite different, we can see several elements familiar to Persona, including a calendar system, character bonds, and social stat attributes for the main character. The also seems to be a sort of class system with ranks, and a Velvet-room style place where you can learn "Archetypes".
The party shown far includes the main character simply known as "Travelling Boy", plus allies Strohl, Heikenberg, and Heismay. There is also a "Navi" character - a fairy named Gallica.
