Genshin Impact Fontaine characters get previewed as version 3.8 update goes live

While Genshin Impact players are busy taking Klee on another summertime escapade, they'll also be thinking about the future. The game's version 3.8 update has gone live, and alongside the previously announced "Secret Summer Paradise" festivities, HoYoVerse gave players a new look at the game's future. Namely, the future contained in characters from Fontaine, the game's next playable nation. 

Via the HoYoLab community site and social media, HoYoVerse introduced Genshin Impact to Fontaine and the upcoming Archon Quest main story chapter via a trailer titled "Overture: The Final Feast":

The Overture: The Final Feast teaser is narrated by various characters and takes place entirely within Fontaine, a steampunk city ruled by the Hydro Archon and known as the Nation of Justice. The trailer featured sightings of various Fontaine locals, as well as the Fatui Harbinger codenamed "Arlecchino".

Further posts introduced three specific characters: Lynette, Lyney, and Freminet.

Lynette and Lyney work as stage magicians in Fontaine. Lyney is a Pyro character with the constellation Felis Fuscus, and is called the "Celebrated Magician of the Court of Fontaine." Lynette is known as the "Multi-Function Magic Assistant", and is an Anemo character with the constellation Felis Alba. Meanwhile, Freminet is called the "Renowned Diver of the Court of Fontaine", a reference to the underwater gameplay to be introduced in the expansion. Freminet is also a Claymore-wielding Cryo character (judging by his use of The Bell weapon).

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Android, and iOS. The 3.8 update is live.
