Mass Effect 3 Sells 890K in 24 Hours, 3.5 Million Shipped Worldwide

Mass Effect 3 was destined to be huge. After all, sales have been going up with each entry, and the hype for the final game in the trilogy seemed quite big.

EA has just released some hard sales numbers letting us know exactly how big. 890K units have been sold in the first 24 hours, according to Venture Beat. “We anticipated it doing well, so we’re happy,” says EA CEO John Riccitiello. In comparison, Mass Effect sold 473,000 first month, while ME2 sold 572,000.

Done well it has, because shortly after, EA officially announced an intitial shipment number of 3.5 million. Claiming Mass Effect 3 to be the "first real blockbuster of the year," after the game went on sale earlier this week.
